Evonik Report

The diaper was constructed with a topsheet, ADL acquisition layer, fluff/SAP core, back fluff layer, and backsheet. On average, the diapers contained 8.9g of SAP, absorbing 595g and retaining 281g of liquid. Testing found optimal absorption in sections 2-4 of the core, with 228g absorption in the belly and 419g in the back before leakage.

Key Findings (average)
● Construction
- The diaper was constructed as follows (described from top to bottom):
> Topsheet
> ADL - highloft
> Homogeneous Fluff/SAP layer
> Fluff layer
> Backsheet

● SAP amount and performance

- By using a sodium selective electrode, we determined a SAP amount of 8,9g, which results in a total
SAP concentration of 29% in the absorbent core.
- The SAP separated from the diapers showed a retention capacity of 32,6g/g and an AAP (0,7psi)
value of 20,1g/g.

● Maximum Absorption and Retention

Due to the amount of superabsorber and its performance, the article absorbed 595g and held back
281g of the test liquid.

● Sectional Retention
We observed a profile with the highest retention capacities in the sectionstwo to four.
An optimal profile has the highest retention capacities in the sections three and four.

● Absorption before Leakage

- belly position: 228g

- back position: 419g

● Multiple Rewet and Acquisition Performance

- The rewet and acquisition performance was tested on the body shaped test device.
Usually 4 times 80g of liquid are added to the articles in this test.
The liquid was absorbed in 41 seconds on the 4th addition on average.
After the 4th addition we determined a total rewet of 8,8 g.
The liquid distribution after the 4th addition was approximately 82% of the absorbent core.
