Multiplying Polynomials

This document provides examples and instructions for multiplying polynomials: 1) It shows how to multiply monomials by monomials and binomials by binomials using the distributive property. 2) Students are asked to multiply binomial expressions like (c + 2)(c - 4) and monomials by polynomials like -2x(3x^2 - 4x + 5). 3) The last problems have students multiply monomials by polynomials with multiple terms like -4y(9xy - 6z) and binomials by binomials squared like (r + s)^2.

Multiplying monomials by polynomials

To multiply a monomial by a polynomial, multiply the monomial by each term in the polynomial using
the procedure for multiplication of exponents. Think distributive property!
