Types of Airlines

Airline Reservation Systems

Key Components:

1. Flight schedules and availability: availability display.

2. Fare quotes and rules: Fare Quote System, fare rules, cabin classes, booking codes, fare basis
code.
3. Passenger information: passenger name record, record locator, special service requests.
4. Electronic ticketing: e-ticket, boarding pass

Flight Scheduling Systems

Scheduling systems must be able to handle:

 Strategic goals
 Route network
 Passenger demand
 Aircraft type
 Human resources
 Environmental & safety regulations
 Airport restrictions
 Contingency planning

Routes- may basna na

-paraan kung pano kumite.

Revenue Management Systems (RMS)

Capabilities:

 Historical data
 Forecasting
 Modeling
 Decision support

Departure Control Systems (DCS)

Capabilities:

Check-in

 Boarding passes
 Seat allocation
 Checked baggage
 Load control
 Passenger identification
 Denied boarding
 No shows and standby passengers
 Interline connections--passenger that they bought tickects in diff airline, or offline di makikita ,
pag bumili ng ticket na di connected, magkakaiba ng code. Kaya nagkakaproblema. Need aheade
of time
 Interoperability

Check-in-

Example of Geofencing around an airport

Check-in options

 Online check-in
 Self-service kiosks
 Auto check-in using geofencing and smartphones
 Check-in counters

Pre-boarding Technologies

Passengers

 Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS)

 WiFi hotspots
 Recharge stations
 Mobile apps (e.g. airport navigation, GateGuru)

Airports

 Business intelligence tools (passenger volumes, queues, dwell times)

 Point-of-sale (POS) systems
 Alerts and notifications

Arrival

 Immigration databases (e.g. "No Fly List')

 e-passports
 Scanners and cameras
 Passenger Identification: biometrics systems and future systems that will analyze walking gait.
body language, heart rhythms or DNA profiles to identify passengers

Baggage and Cargo Handling

Baggage handling systems (BHSs)

 Bag tags with optical bar codes

 Conveyer belts and robotic systems for sorting
 Baggage tracking systems (e.g. Bagtrac)
 Lost baggage systems (e.g. World Tracer)
 Self-service bag drops
 RFID bag tags and chips in luggage

Safety and Security Systems

 Communications systems
 Navigation systems
 Surveillance systems
 Flight and weather information systems

1. Smartphones are very helpful to our life. Whatever we do, we often used pur gadgets to make
our life easier. So any business always used different apps and use the internet to persuade their
customer. They post their product and service online so many people could access and know
their business. Traditional marketing strategies are not used nowadays, instead they create
different websites or apps to distribute the information and even the product itself. Nowadays,
different apps introduces easier and better way to communicate directly with customers and
advertise products. With the help of smartphones, we can gather information whenever we are.

2. Tracking passengers have both advantage and disadvantage for us. First for the advantage, it
allows us passenger to notify, and we have easy access to find information and options about
travel. NFC RFID and BLE give convenience and have seamless communication. RFID give more
efficient loading of baggage onto the plane. While on the other hand, it might be dangerous for
some and we cant guarantee that we can protect our privacy. Since we can easily locate with
the help of tracker, some situation might happen if they always know where we are and to know
our personal information. Hacker or fraud might be arise. So for me, our security and privacy
will not be protected if we always have this tracker. In my opinion, we should always consider
the rights or the passenger and their privacy.

3. Different technologies can improve passenger experience. With the help of augmented reality, it
helps our passenger to have reality experience. They present virtual objects and information
that help us to easily identified and easily understand. In short it helps us to interact and have
connection even virtual. We are lucky that we have these advance technologies to ease our
work and our travel experience.
