ABSTRACT
Waste removal production shares a foremost aspect in open pit coal mining system. Maintaining
its fleet productivity, which consists balancing of loader and trucks performance, has always been
a difficult task to do. Automatic Dispatching System is implemented to help monitoring fleet
condition and assign trucks to designated loader. Integrated data from real time GPS, Vehicle
Health Monitoring System and other production related data are acquired to support the Automatic
Dispatching System. However, in big mining sites with extensive hauling distance, it produces
even a greater challenge due to more trucks are being utilized and more external factor involved
other than the fleet performance itself.
Optimizing the use of resources, namely the truck fleet, is an activity that must be carried out so
that the production plan is achieved at the lowest possible cost. However, the activity of controlling
in real-time is an extraordinary effort because of its complexity. The most visible thing is the
hanging time and queuing time of each fleet are still very high, namely 2.34 minutes and 2.07
minutes per load cycle or equal to 2.861 bcm per fleet per day of production loss. By using
integrated delivery system data, the authors conducted research to utilize the data to understand
truck cycles that affect fleet productivity. The data is modeled to obtain the most optimal
distribution pattern for the assignment of dump trucks to excavators using modified integer linear
programming theory and adapted to actual conditions in the field. This study aims to understand
the causes of non-optimal dump truck assignments and create an automatic and dynamic
assignment system. Finally, through this research, the author is able to analyze and classify the
pattern of determining the most optimal dump truck in a fleet in real-time. The result was a
significant reduction in hanging and queuing times to 1.59 minutes (-32%) and 1.7 minutes (-18%)
and an increase in hourly production achievement of 13%. This result is a useful milestone for the
implementation of a dynamic assignment system at PT. Pamapersada Nusantara which can increase
production achievement with minimal cost.
