Introductory Message
This Self-Learning Module (SLM) is prepared so that you, dear learners, can continue your
studies and learn while at home. Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and discussions
are carefully stated for you to understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you step-by-step as you
discover and understand the lesson prepared for you.
Pre-test are provided to measure your prior knowledge on lesson on each SLM. This will tell
you if you need to proceed on completing this module or if you need to ask your facilitator or
your teacher’s assistance for better understanding of the lesson. At the end of the module,
you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning. Answer keys are provided for
each activity and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the teacher are also provided to our
facilitators and parents for strategies and reminders on how they can best help you on your
home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part of this SLM. Use
a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests. Read the instructions carefully
before performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any difficulty in answering the tasks in this
module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.
Thank you.
This module provides varied activities that will help you learn
about solving problems involving parallelogram, trapezoid, and kite.
Directions: Read each question carefully. Choose the letter of the correct
answer. Write the chosen letter on a separate sheet of paper.

The properties of a quadrilateral such as parallelogram, trapezoid and
kites are important in solving problems. We need to recall and remember all
properties to solve a particular problem. Let us recall those properties.

value of x. Write your answer on the space provided.
(x+6)+(2x+3)=180
m∠CER + m∠ARE=180
3x + ___= 180
So, it means 3x=_____-9
(x+6)+(2x+3)= 180 3x=_____
x=_______

Since we already have the values of x, we can find the measure of CA and
ER, the same with CER and ARE.
B. Guide Questions:
1. What is the measure of CA and ER? Do they have the same measure?
2. What is the measure of CER?
3. What is the measure of ARE?
4. For CER and ARE, are they supplementary angles?

Solving Problems Involving Parallelogram
From the previous activities that we have done, we are now familiarized
with the properties of a parallelogram to solve the problems.

A. Refer to this figure: Kite HOPE with diagonals HP and EO
H Example no. 1: Solve for the area of kite HOPE
with diagonal HP is 25cm and diagonal EO is
12cm.
E T O Given: HP= 25cm

quadrilateral kite to solve the problem. Draw the figure and write
your answer solution on the box provided below. Don’t forget to
box your final answer.
One morning, Lance and his younger sister Iyah saw children flying a
kite on the field. His younger sister asked him to make their own. So, he
provided materials for making kite. He cut six 2 sticks with a measure of
12cm, 2 sticks with a measure of 23cm, 1 stick with a measure of 14cm and
another stick with a measure of 26cm.
But then, Lance needs to know how much fabric he will need to cover
the kite.
Can we help Lance to solve his problem? You may write your answer
