PYRAMID

A pyramid is a three-dimensional geometric shape with triangular or rectangular faces that meet at a single point called an apex. A triangular pyramid has a triangular base and three triangular faces that meet at the apex, while a rectangular pyramid has a rectangular base. Real-world examples of pyramid shapes include the ancient Egyptian pyramids, pyramid-shaped pastries, Rubik's Pyramid puzzle, tents, towers, temples, watermelons cut into wedges, caution signs, and Toblerone chocolate bars.

A. ILLUSTRATION

B. DESCRIPTION

A pyramid is a three-dimensional geometric shape that consists of four

vertices, a triangular or rectangular base, and multiple triangle-shaped faces
that converge towards a single point located on the top known as an apex. In a
nutshell, a three-dimensional geometric figure that consists of a flat base, and
whose rest all faces are triangular in shape, is known as a pyramid. The
surface area of a triangular pyramid is given as Base area + ½ × Perimeter ×
Slant length and the volume is calculated as ⅓ × Base Area × Height.
B.1. TRIANGULAR PYRAMID
A pyramid that consists of a triangular base and three congruent triangular
faces is known as the triangular pyramid. A triangular pyramid is also a
tetrahedron that consists of four triangular faces. A triangular pyramid can be
further classified into four categories:

B.2. RECTANGULAR PYRAMID

A triangular pyramid having a base with all its sides equal in length is known
as a regular triangular pyramid. In a nutshell, if the base of a triangular
pyramid is an equilateral triangle, then such a triangle is known as a regular
triangular pyramid.

C. EXAMPLES OF REAL PYRAMID OBJECTS

C.1. Pyramids of Egypt

The pyramids, Egypt form the most common example of the three-
dimensional pyramid geometric shape in real life.
C.2. Pyramid Pastry

The shape of a pyramid pastry is quite similar to that of a three-dimensional

pyramid geometric figure.

C.3. Rubik’s Pyramid

The Pyraminx is a regular tetrahedron puzzle in the style of Rubik's Cube. It was made and
patented after the original 3 layered Rubik's Cube and introduced by Tomy Toys of Japan (then
the 3rd largest toy company in the world) in 1981
C.4. Tent

The tent resembles the shape of a pyramid and it is popularly used for
camping and are good examples of a pyramid three-dimensional geometric
shape.

C.5. Tower

Pyramid with metallic bars that form the outer boundary converge to a single
point on the top. The faces of a tower are triangular in shape, and the base of
the tower resemble the square geometric figure.
C.6. Temples

The earliest monuments consisted of simple burial mounds, the precursors to the
spectacular stepped pyramids from the Terminal Pre-classic period and beyond. These
pyramids relied on intricate carved stone in order to create a stair-stepped design.
Triangular in shape with base of the temple square-shaped. Hence, the structure of this
temple is a clear example of pyramid-shaped object

C.7. Water Melon

Watermelon is commonly cut into pieces as mostly pyramid in nature.

C.8. Caution Sign

The shape of most of the caution or wet floor signs closely resembles the
shape of a three-dimensional pyramid geometric figure. Similarly, the shape of
a flap-type wet floor sign is analogous to that of a pyramid structure.

C.9. Chocolate

Toblerone bar consists of a number of pyramid-shaped chocolate blocks

attached to one another.
