In general, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud requires no more bandwidth than is required to browse the internet. All
application modules are designed for speed and responsiveness with minimal use of large graphic files.

‘Spaces are virtual work environments with their own database storage
Spaces are virtual work environments with their own data bases. Spaces are decoupled, but are open for flexible
access, thus allowing your users to collaborate without having to worry about sharing their data. To model your
data and create stories, you need to start off with a space. You can decide how much and what kind of storage
you need, as well as how important your space is compared to other spaces. You also add space members and
set up connections here. Do you already have transformed data that you would like access through SAP Data
Warehouse Cloud? Or maybe you have data in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud that you would like to use in other
tools or apps. In this case, you can set up an open SQL schema or a space schema.
Note:
If no default role is defined, the minimum required permissions are assigned to a user. The user will be able to log
in and request a role, but only if you have configured one or more roles for self-service, and assigned users a

Connections marked as "On-Premise" can be used to connect to sources located in the cloud, too. The only pitfall
is thal in order to connect to a cloud-based SAP ABAP or Microsoft SQL Server, for example, you have to connect
through the on-premise installed SAP HANA SDI Data Provisioning Agent.
Remote tables and view building always requires an SAP HANA SDI Data Provisioning Agent to be installed or a
server certificate uploaded to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud.
Connecting to on-premise sources (all sources not directly accessible on the public internet) requires the setup of
either the Smart Data integration (SDI) Data Provisioning Agent or SAP Cloud Connector or both, depending on
which sources you need to connect to. These agents act like proxies or gateways for SAP Data Warehouse Cloud
into your local network. Without these agents you would have to expose your systems to the public internet to
allow SAP Data Warehouse Cloud to connect which is not what you want.
