The Importance of English Education in The Future

Language is a means of communication and human interaction. In addition, the


language is also used for a tool to express themselves, for example, the feeling, the
emotional, opinions, and other things are individual. In Indonesia, the Indonesian
language is used as the language of unifying the nation. In formal education in
Indonesia, there are lessons in Indonesian language, the local language, and English.

English education in formal education is already considered a regular thing,


especially in urban areas. In addition to the formal education such as schools, English
language education is also taught through the English language course that has a variety
of interesting methods in teaching. However, the institution English courses is still
limited, mostly just there in the big cities of course.

Rural areas are still less touchable with education, including English language
education. The main factor behind it is the lack of teachers and lack of teaching media,
as well as a place that is less adequate. Meanwhile, remote areas that still lack access
to education is increasingly lagging behind and move away from globalization, only
because of not mastered the language as a medium of communication. Whereas this
remote area is usually a natural beauty that invite foreign tourists to come.

English is very necessary in the current era of globalization. This is due to the
development of the world already dynamic, such as the development of free trade.
Currently, many foreign companies established in Indonesia, which makes the use of
an international language is very important to master. And English has been established
as an international language.

English education should be the things that are important to be taught to people
in all walks of life. Therefore, English language education is not only for those who
have a formal education. The focus of most people is how to teach English through
formal education. Whereas some English language education in formal education is
still less how to apply. Most only gave the theory without practice. In fact, the language
is basically a part of the culture that has to be practiced. The lack of practice is the one
of the reasons why listening english is hard (Rintaningrum 2016).
Learning English has a lot of benefits in the future, such as:

1. Support education abroad


By mastering English, then our chances to grab the education abroad will be
more spacious. English is a mandatory requirement, because when we go to
school in a foreign country, the language of instruction is English. In addition,
it can support we get the opportunity to follow the international seminar,
international race, to exchange students.
2. Improve career in the future
In undergoing a career, of course you don't want to stop in one position or rank
of course. We certainly want to climb the ranks, moved a career path, or other
things that can make dreams your career achieved. Fluent in English to be one
of the keys to expanding the prospect of your career in the future (Adieb 2020).
Usually multinational companies will add a qualification can speak English in
every recruitment because it's usually the employees will be directly related to
the employees of the branch companies in other countries. And Mastering
English can strengthen our value in the eyes of others and also will be more
appreciated in the world of work international.
3. Make it easy to find a job
Many jobs that require proficiency in English, such as tour guides tourist,
teaching English, translator of the book and the film, embassies, international
journalists, flight attendants, HR international company, brand specialist,
public relations, and others.
4. Improve the ability of self
English is one of the capabilities that are needed, especially young people who
are about to enter the professional world. Because, fluent in English often be a
requirement to look for work. If someone was able to master the English
language since I was a student, of course it would be easy for him to improve,
expand networking, and improve the quality of self.
5. Add insight for students
By mastering English, the student can gain insights from a variety of sources,
including the internet, e-book, film, and various other sources. Yes, the insight
that is not only obtained from surfing the internet or reading a book. You can
also get additional insights from watching movies, listening to podcasts, and
much more. Then it, having the English language skills can make a person's
chance of getting insight into wider.
6. Follow the development of the era
One of the reasons the importance of learning English from an early age. By
studying English, of course we will be more observant in seeing the
development of the times because it indirectly, direction progress of the times
it is in western countries generally use English as a standard language (Squline
2021).
7. Supporting Research
An important reason why we must learn English is because English is the
language of the scientific building is expected to be the language of the
association of academic largest in the world. As a scientific language, of
English is very often used by the top scientists in writing some articles or books
from the results of the research-the research that has been their test. Although
scientists comes from Indonesia, English remains the primary language used to
write these articles so that the article can be global and be understood by other
scientists or search other references in the entire world. Most of the latest
findings published in international using the English language (Rintaningrum
2015).

There are a variety of efforts that can be done to bring the English language in
the community, especially for those who are in remote areas. First, socialization about
the importance of learning English by describing the benefits that can be
diperolehuntuk himself, his region, and his country. Second, the approach in the
community for example by holding a cheap market. Activities that can invite the
interest of the public, can be inserted with the use of English language when
communicating with the public. So step by step people begin to know and ultimately
love the English language. Third, teach English directly on the community. In the third
attempt, the people can be taught vocabulary in the English language for objects and
words-adjectives that are often used in everyday life. The core of such efforts is to
practice English in life. So the end goal is to create an English-speaking environment.
The efforts made are expected to cultivate the habit in society. When English becomes
a habit in society, the English speaking culture can continue to be sustainable.

Obstacles often encountered in the English language education is the presence


of fear in the community that with the use of the English language can erode
budayabangsa because it can make people leave the local language. This kind of
thinking is thinking that is narrow. Because, basically, English is the language of
communication that can connect us with people in other countries. When we isolate
ourselves from the English, it means that we did not want to relate with other countries.
On the contrary,the English language can actually help preserve the local language and
promoting our culture abroad.

The various benefits can be obtained by imparting English education to all


people. By mastering English, can bring this nation is advanced in the field of
economic, social, cultural, political, and education. Because it is undeniable that a
variety of information in today's world presented in the English language, so in order
to be able to access it is very important to master the English language.
