LESSON OBJECTIVES:
- to use, recognize and write correctly career related words (jobs);
- to read fluently the text;
- to identify true and false statements about the text;
- to match correctly the definitions with the jobs;
- to use these career related words in new contexts;
- to realize an acrostic;
METHODS:
reading, conversation, exercise, pair work, role-play, explanation
MATERIALS:
books, copybooks, pictures, handouts, blackboard, blue and pink cards, riddles

ACTIVITY 1: Judge
OBJECTIVES: - to read fluently the paragraph
- to mark T (True) and F (False) the
statements about the text. T – Ss 8’
PROCEDURE:
1. T gives the students the handouts with the text:
Hi! I’m Michael. I’m twenty-two and I live in Boston. I’m a
computer programmer in a big company and this is my full-time
job.
My working day starts at nine and finishes at five. I usually IW
have a break at 1p.m. I work a lot because I have to check some
programs and make some new programs for my company. I
have two assistants; they work at their tables opposite me.
Sometimes we discuss different ways of solving the problems. I
can say that our programs are new and useful. I love my job
and I like to invent something new. It is a very interesting job.
Statements: 1. His name is Peter. 2. He has a full-time job. 3. He
starts work at eight o’clock. 4. He checks programs and invents new
ones. 5. He doesn’t like his job.
ACTIVITY 3: Reporter
OBJECTIVES: - to ask questions about the jobs
of his/her partner’s parents and about the job they would
like to have in the future; 12’
- to report his partner’s answers to the
class;
- to practise Present Tense Simple;
PROCEDURE: PW
1. T explains the task;
2. Ss ask each other questions and make notes; T – Ss
3. Ss write sentences reporting their partner’s
answers;
4. T asks some students to read their
sentences.
ACTIVITY 4 (Feedback): Mime
OBJECTIVES: - to mime some jobs;
- to name the working places of those
jobs;
- to add information about those jobs
using Present Tense Simple 8’

PROCEDURE: IW
1. T explains the task; S-S
2. Ss choose a job and mime it in front of the class;
3. The students that guess the jobs have to name the
corresponding working place;
4. T corrects if necessary.
