TOPIC 1: Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change
improved the way people live?

Advantages:

1. Saving time => spend time for families/ take care of themselves
2. Fast food => save money and free up time to work

Disadvantages:

1. Smart gadgets => pay a huge sum of money

2. Fast food high in fat => high blood pressure and diabetes.

Food has been easier to prepare in recent years as part of an effort to enhance
people's lives. Although it may appear that this change has benefited everyone,
there are some drawbacks to consider.

To begin with, owing to current technology's support, large time savings in meal
preparation are workable. For example, with modern kitchen facilities as a rice
cooker, air fryer and microwave oven, housewives do not spend lots of time
cooking meals, and the kitchen will become nice, clean, and smoke-free. As a
result, women now have more time to spend with their families and take care of
themselves. Secondly, the advent of fast food saves money and frees up time for
work. According to many restaurant cooks, quick food at a fair price is highly
appealing to a wide range of consumers, therefore this is a dish appropriate for
today's modern cuisine. Moreover, individuals may eat and work at the same time,
so saving as much time as possible.

However, there are some disadvantages. Electricity is used by the newest home
cooking appliances. In fact, we will have to pay a huge sum of money for smart
gadgets each month, thus we should learn to budget our money. In addition, most
fast food is high in fat, which raises the risk of cancer and obesity. According to
the survey, 80% of obesity is caused by fast food and processed foods.
Furthermore, obesity wreaks havoc on health, causing many other diseases such as
high blood fat, diabetes.

To conclude, the advantages of simple methods for culinary preparation are

difficult to refute., although it has brought some drawbacks to people’s health.
TOPIC 2: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television has
destroyed communication among friends and family.

Television has destroyed communication among friends and family:

1. Spend much time on TV => increase laziness, depending on the virtual world.
2. Make children unresponsive on parents’ voice
3. Prefer watching tv to hanging out with friends => lack of quantity time together

From my perspective, I strongly agree that communication among friends and

family has been ruined by television because of a number of reasons.

First of all, people no longer have the time to concentrate on activities that allow
them to communicate with their friends. Nearly 65% of couch potatoes reported
that they spend at least 4 hours per day on TV like drama series or reality shows
without anything to do. As a result, they grow increasingly lazy and depend on the
virtual world provided by television. Secondly, watching too much TV makes
children unresponsive to their parents' voices or perceive their parents as annoying.
Because the children miss the opportunity to bond with their parents while
watching television, emotional development is hindered.

More importantly, different programs on TV give options to choose that users

want to watch. Nowadays, many TV shows show the latest movies that we can
watch on it. Although this situation can be beneficial to our time, we sometimes
forget to socialize with our friends and prefer to stay at home. As a result, your
friendship will suffer due to the lack of quality time together.

To summarize, TV is a remedy of modern society to relieve pressure. however, TV

addiction will have serious consequences, it destroys relationships between family
members and friends.
TOPIC 3: In general, people are living longer now. Discuss the causes of this
phenomenon.

Several reasons:

1. Lifestyle: doing exercise, reasonable working and sleeping Schedule

2. Eating habits: plan-based foods reduce chronic diseases
3. Healthcare systems

It is true that more and more people are indeed living longer. In my view, there are
several reasons for this trend such as better health care facilities, lifestyle and healthy
diet.

First and foremost, lifestyle is the most important factor of a longer life. According to
the medical journal The Lancet, spending 15 minutes of exercise a day can increase
life expectancy by 3 years, reduce the risk of dying from common diseases such as
cancer or heart disease by nearly 14%. Furthermore, a reasonable working and
sleeping schedule also contributes to life extension. For example, individuals in some
countries like Japan and Greek avoid staying up late, go to bed before 11 p.m and
wake up no later than 7 a.m. Consequently, keeping this healthy lifestyle helps people
in these countries have the longest life expectancy in the world.

Secondly, eating habits can also have a significant impact on the rise in longevity. In
fact, plant-based foods are better for the body. For instance, a vegetarian diet only
allows the body to absorb a small amount of fat, hence reducing chronic diseases such
as high blood pressure, cholesterol. The third factor is the great development of
medicines and medical devices. There is no denying that since scientists found the
secrets of DNA, more and more newly developed treatment has been produced, such
as anti-aging drugs and so on. Furthermore, individuals develop a new habit of
obtaining yearly health check-ups, which allows diseases to be detected early
immediately.
To sum up, the factors mentioned above are quite basic and easy to apply. To my
thinking, people should change their manner of living to build up stronger bodies.
TOPIC 4: Why do you think some people are attracted to dangerous sports or
other dangerous activities?

1. Challenge yourself => gain confidence

2. Relieve stress in life => meaningful changes
3. Become famous

It seems to me that more and more people have been passionate about doing
extreme sports or dangerous activities because of several reasons.

First and foremost, adventurous people desire to push themselves outside of their
comfort zone. Extreme sports athletes like taking risks because they are brave and
confident. In fact, they are someone who is always seeking the best method to
connect with nature while also being aware of his or her limits and requirements.
Consequently, facing challenges and overcoming anxieties allows people to gain
confidence. Secondly, dangerous activities allow relieving fear and stress in life.
An interview with persons aged 30 to 70 who play adventure games revealed that
it helps them make numerous good and meaningful changes in their lives.

Last but not least, people tend to join in risky sports with the intention of being
famous people. For instance, they usually take images or record the moments they
engage in risk-taking sports and then publish them on social media. As a result,
many people recognize them for their adventurous style of life, which is different
from everyone who works nine to five jobs.

To sum up, there is no denying that these sports are dangerous. However, it also
provides numerous mental and physical advantages for players. Before
participating in these unsafe activities, I strongly agree that everyone should think
seriously.
TOPIC 5: People have different ways of escaping the stress and difficulties of
modern life. Some read; some exercise; others work in their gardens. What do you
think are the best ways of reducing stress?

1. Playing sports => positive things, good controlling emotions

2. Gardening => Fresh air makes people feel more relaxed
3. Hanging out w friends => help us in gaining the most objective view of the
problem, giving useful advice.

Recently, stress is unavoidable when individuals lead busy lives. In my view of

thinking, it is necessary for people to relieve stress in modern society with different
methods, such as playing sports, hanging out with friends, or gardening.

To begin with, playing sports help people minimize pressure and think more
positively. For example, several studies in some US universities have found that those
who practice physical activities on a routine basis are better able to handle stress.
Furthermore, people will experience a variety of emotions when participating in
sports, and their bodies will be trained to react to those feelings. As a result, humans
will be able to control their emotions more completely. Secondly, gardening is another
easy effective way to reduce stress. After working hours, instead of sitting in front of
the computer, go outside, sow some seeds, and water the plants. These things will
make you feel as if time goes by faster and your troubles about daily life will fade
away.

Thirdly, connecting with friends is one of the greatest methods for reducing stress in
modern life. When gathering with friends, we will be able to talk about all difficulties.
Therefore, they will help us in gaining the most objective view of the problem and
allow us to offer a suitable and effective solution. Consequently, you may easily solve
issues and support you in concentrating on business more productively.
In conclusion, everyone has different ways to reduce stress. However, in my opinion,
there are three incredibly effective stress-reduction methods that you should know.
