WHAT IS INDUSTRIAL ARTS?

Industrial Arts is that phase of education which offers individuals an insight


into our industrial society through laboratory-classroom experiences. Through
industrial arts, the role of industry and technology is unfolded as students study the
history and development of industrial organizations, materials, products, processes,
and related problems. Industrial arts provides experiences that develop basic
knowledge common to many occupations and profession.

Represents the study and practice of technical design including furniture,


automobiles and toys. Industrial Arts is defined as the study of the skills needed to work
with tools and machinery. A course of study aimed at developing the manual and technical
skills required to work with tools and machinery.
WHAT IS INDUSTRIAL ARTIST?

A person who gets the things done with the help of tools and machines.
Industrial artist serve many purposes in society and cultivate technological
advancement through careers in automobile design and computer-aided drafting.

HISTORY

Industrial arts began as early as prehistory times when human beings first
developed tools , according to the Journal of Technology Education. Formal
instruction for industrial arts arouse during the late 1800’s and consisted of manual
training for trades in manufacturing. Industrial arts education became popular in the
1900’s as an alternative for students seeking to learn a trade and its known as
vocational school

PURPOSE

The purpose of the industrial arts activities is to give the student a background
of our industrial society. Career education place an equally important role in the
education process of the student it involves the student in everyday life decisions,
and helps him to become a better informed citizen in his community.

DEMAND

The meaning behind the demand for people trained in industrial arts changes
with the needs of the employing corporations. For example, the demand for industrial
artist during the 1940’s included people adept at shortwave radio design for use in
World War II ,according to the Encyclopedia of Chicago Talented designers offers
companies an edge over the competition and provide society with the desired
technologically advanced products .

BENEFITS

 Understands the principals of math and science project based learning.


 Learn the value of persistence
 Find the satisfaction in taking the project from start to finish.
 Teach hands on skills that are useful in everyday life.
