Sketcher’s Pencil*

Sketcher’s Pencil*
If the pencil is the workhorse of any sketch kit, this
one's supercharged. It can go from a soft gradation to
solid black and deliver thin-to-thick lines like a champ.
Ideal for quick, inspired sketches or complete
drawings. Excellent in both color and black and white.
• Pressure: size + opacity
• Tilt: size + opacity + texture
• *Doubles as a Smudge Tool
ABOUT: The sketcher’s pencil wasn’t meant to look exactly like a pencil. I wanted a sketching tool that could give me options on the fly with a
lot of variety that had a pencil essence to it. It can work like a pencil but can almost mimic a pen at it’s darkest. The tilt function is great for
quickly shading larger areas, too. It’s one of my favorites in the kit.

Boss Pen
Tilt
Boss Pen
If you were to take a ballpoint pen and mash with a
Fine-liner, the result would be the Boss Pen. Mix and
match with other tools in your quiver. It's meant to be
used with a smaller size setting, but feel free to run
amok with it.
• Pressure: opacity
QUICK TIP: If you want a more realistic ballpoint effect with pen brushes, create a new layer above your current one and changes it’s blend
mode to Multiply. Continue your drawing on this new layer. You can adjust the opacity to taste before merging. Or you can visit
www.inkgangboss.com/freebies for free ones that are already programmed to work like this out of the box.

Boss Marker
Tilt
Boss Marker
The Boss Marker is excellent at building up gradual
layers of tones and color. It has a texture setting that
blends well so you're strokes and your work look more
natural. Great for comp work or just about anything.
• Pressure: size + opacity
• Tilt: size + texture
QUICK TIP: Build up tones gradually with the Boss Marker using lighter pencil pressure. This blends the brushes texture for a more traditional
look, and also helps blend the Boss Marker’s edges. Or you can use the power of the Spackle and Smudge* brush.

Boss Brush

Boss Brush
Incredible inking, line-work, fills, and just about
everything in between makes the Boss Brush an
indispensable tool. A bit of dry-edge when you tilt your
Apple Pencil gives this brush a natural touch. It's
perfect for inking but fits well into any type of work. It
is the Boss Brush, after all.
• Pressure: size + opacity
• Tilt: dry brush, texture + size
QUICK TIP: QUICK TIP: Ink Gang Boss brushes with Tilt often lay down a different texture or look. Experiment and practice tilting your Apple
Pencil as you draw. The Boss Brush is a perfect example of this. This feature will give your work a more natural look and feel.

Conté Crayon*
Tilt
Conté Crayon*
A blend so buttery you’ll crave some toast. The Conté
Crayon was one of my favorite tools in art school. Just
like its real-life counterpart, this one can deliver a soft
grain or a more toothy grain when you tilt your Apple
Pencil.
• Pressure: opacity
• Tilt: texture + size
• *Doubles as a Smudge Tool
QUICK TIP: I sometimes use paper textures to add a bit of realism. When I don’t have one handy, a quick alternative is to change your canvas
color to something other than white.

Charcoal Stick*
I find sketching with charcoal liberating. It's an
excellent medium for both fast and loose work and for
more polished pieces. Like the Conté Crayon, the
Charcoal Stick's grain gets more toothy when tilting
your Apple Pencil. Load it as Smudge Tool and you have
a traditional combo at your disposal.
• Pressure: size + opacity
• Tilt: texture + size
• *Doubles as a Smudge Tool
QUICK TIP: Experiment setting some Procreate functions to your finger. I.e, I have my Smudge Tool set to activate with my finger. This allows me
to work faster and is what I use with my real tools. You can change this via Wrench icon, Prefs icon, Gesture Controls and Smudge. Toggle the
Touch switch or pick setting that suits your workflow.

Boss Roller
Tilt
Boss Roller
A Jack of all trades and one of the brushes I use the
most in this kit. I paint, sketch and create thumbnails
with it. I like its irregular edges and grain that can look
both chalky or painterly depending on your pressure.
One of the most enjoyable to work with, in my opinion.
Roll like a boss with this versatile brush.
• Pressure: opacity
• Tilt: size + drier brush texture
QUICK TIP: Most brushes can be used at a much smaller size. You don’t always have to draw with pencils and pens. Charcoal, Paint, etc. Can all
be used to draw with each with it’s own unique result. Experiment and get more out of all your brushes.

ABOUT: I worked hard developing the watercolor brushes for this kit. I wanted to offer tools that competed with premium packs. The Aqua Paint and the
Aqua Amped, work great out of the box. You can take them to the next level by using layer blend modes, hue/saturation adjustments and more.

ABOUT: With the launch of Procreate 5 and its new amazing brush engine, I was able to reconfigure the water brushes in this kit to behave more
realistically. Now you can paint with a more realistic feel and look without having to resort to tricks or hacks.

Smudge Tool
Just Water
This brush has no color so don’t be alarmed. It’s
meant for blending and creating wet on wet effects
in your work. Make sure to load it as a brush not a
Smudge Tool. It does remove texture. To make it look
natural, you can use the Spackle and Smudge brush.
Play with it’s opacity setting and use it with other
brushes, too!
• Pressure: opacity
QUICK TIP: To add a more streaked or runny water look, reduce the size of the Just Water brush and pull or push the pigment around in long
strokes. For best results try it with more pressure at the beginning of your stroke and lighten up as you reach the end. You can use the Spackle
and Smudge* as a smudge tool to bring back some texture. Alternatively, you can add a paper texture and leave it as is, too.

washes.

QUICK TIP: If you want to maintain the integrity of your Aqualiner brushes as lettering tools. Don’t change their Streamline setting! If you insist
on making modifications, duplicate this or any brush before making changes. Procreate 5 has a, ‘Reset Brush’ button in its Brush Studio under
the, ‘About this Brush’ tab at the bottom.

QUICK TIP: Sketching is an integral part of improving as an artist. It let’s you experiment with styles, techniques and is said to get the, “bad
drawings” out. So sketch often!

QUICK TIP: Experiment with brushes like Dry Shrub, Aqua Shrub, Flakey Rakey*, Air Spatter, Spackle and Smudge* and Glitched*. These brushes
are constantly surprising me with their potential as both brushes and Smudge Tools. A lot of inspiration is born form experimentation.

QUICK TIP: To get the best out of your brushes, make sure to experiment with it’s features. Test out how the brush reacts to both pressure and
tilt. In traditional media artists use both the point and the edge of their pencil or brush. Practice shifting your Apple Pencil from upright to
angled as you draw strokes.

Air Spatter
Here’s a nice airbrush that delivers a soft gradated + Air Spatter
and textured blend. Tilt your Apple Pencil, and it clogs,
making the spattering less gradated and sparse.
• Pressure: opacity
• Tilt: flow + opacity
QUICK TIP: You can use Alpha Lock or the Quick Selection tool to mask off areas and reign in the Air Spatter brush.

QUICK TIP: To get more realistic wash effects, use multiple wash brushes to create a textured wash. You can also play with their opacity and
layer blend modes for varied and interesting results.

Rakey Flakey*

QUICK TIP: My brushes are designed to look like traditional tools. To make them more realistic, mix and match your brushes to vary textures and
strokes. It’s part of why there’s only a few of them, they’re meant to play well together and combine to create rich, realistic textures and effects.

For that finishing touch, get Glitched*! Pointillism,
stippling, and watercolor salting effects in one
easy to use digital brush. Experiment freely with
this one.
• Pressure: opacity
• Tilt: size + flow
QUICK TIP: If you’re going to print your work, don’t forget to sharpen before exporting! Procreate’s built in Sharpen works great. You can access it via
the Adjustments Icon (the magic wand). Make sure to view your work at actual size so you can see it’s effect. The rule here is don’t overdo. An
alternative way is to duplicate your art into a new layer, sharpen that layer and then adjust opacity to taste.
