ERADICATE CHILD LABOUR

Good day everyone! My name is Hannah Mari Bulaon from HRDM II-B, my topic is about child labor and
the speech title is Child Labour: Eradicate or Legalized. The issue is whether child labor should be in all
aspects and situation. My stand on this is that child labor should be eradicated. Because children should
not be working in a field where they are being freedom and educationally deprived. One of the reason
why child labor happens is the poverty, most of the children who works early do not have the privilege
to attend school and they are given the responsibility at a young age. To support my stand I searched for
information about this, According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), a U.N. agency, about
70% of child laborers work in agriculture. Others work long hours in factories, domestic service, or
forced labor, such as child soldiers and children exploited in the commercial sex trade. From 2000 —
when the ILO began monitoring child labor — to 2016, the number of children exploited fell by 94
million, a dramatic global reduction. However, the decline slowed between 2012 and 2016, and global
progress was stagnant between 2016 and 2020 — the most recent reporting period. Also, due to rising
poverty as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, an estimated 8.9 million additional children are at risk of
being pushed into child labor by the end of 2022. Meroon ding law na isinabatas noong November 9,
1993. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7658. AN ACT PROHIBITING THE EMPLOYMENT OF CHILDREN BELOW 15 YEARS
OF AGE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UNDERTAKINGS.
children both mentally and physically. I think that in order to eradicate child labor, one of the solution is
to spread awareness about the child labour, like what are the factors considered for it to be labelled as a
child labor. if you had encountered one you should report it and maybe if you are privilege enough, try
to donate din sa mga organizations or programme na sumusuporta sa pagtanggal ng child labor. Isa na
dito ay yung the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPACL)  in which The ILO supports the
Philippines in implementing the PPACL  through its International Programme on the Elimination of Child
Labour (IPEC) . The ILO, in partnership with the Government of Japan is also implementing the Achieving
reduction of child labour in support of education: Programme to reduce the worst forms of child labour
in agriculture  in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
