- The document discusses the large amount of plastic waste generated in India each year, with 26,000 tonnes generated and 90% becoming landfill. - It proposes leveraging the 700 metric tonnes of plastic waste generated per day in Mumbai by converting it into fuel using a pyrolysis process. - The plan is to employ local youth to collect plastic waste from beaches, transport it to a pyrolysis plant, and convert it into fuels while also generating employment.

What if we leverage this 700 metric tonnes of plastic waste?

The idea is to leverage this amount of plastic waste and convert it into
fuel and at the same time generate employment.

How Do We Do This?

We use pyrolysis to convert the waste into fuel

The pyrolysis plant essentially breaks down plastic

waste into molecular level through an anaerobic
heating process. This further converts into poly-
fuel, jet fuel, diesel, and heavy oil.

The idea is to leverage the power of youth within these pockets of Mumbai and make them a
stakeholder in Parivartan. They would be employed to plog the plastic waste out of the beaches
of Mumbai and transport it to the pyrolysis plant setup under a public-private partnership.
