A MOTHER PRAYS
Enter my portals O glory bound ones
Learn to lead I'll make you men
In my dreams the bugle sounds
In my heart hope abounds
Leave my portals live like men
Death or glory it matters none
The hour beckons honour at stake
O valiant sons a mother prays
Lead with vigour straight up front
Rocklike bear the enemy's brunt
I shall write your untold story
I shall uphold your blazing glory
Go my sons the earth beckons
Hear my warriors the oceans call
Soar my eagles the sky is yours
Death before defeat
Death before dishonour
Death with distinction

EDITORIAL
Dear Readers,
It gives me great pleasure to present to you the latest edition of the NDA Journal
"Trishakti'. After an extremely challenging phase due to the pandemic we are slowly return-
ing back to a normal. The pandemic seems to have entered a latent phase but we continue
to adjust to this new normal with caution. Despite a raging pandemic the Academy was able
to conduct all of the cadet related activities to the highest standards possible this term. The
Journal is a ready reference of all such activities. In hindsight, the pandemic accorded us
an opportunity to evolve. We got "tougher than the going" by adapting to the new normal.
Like everywhere else the Academy too leveraged technology in order to ensure continuity
in cadet training. Events such as Inter Battalion Quiz Competition, Inter Battalion Hindi De-
bate Competition, Inter Squadron Public Speaking Competition and various other sporting
events were conducted keeping in mind social distancing norms. It was also extremely sat-
isfying to finally see the parents watch their wards Pass Out after almost a gap of 2 years.
The Academy has indeed adjusted to this new normal quite well and has come out
with flying colours. The successful conduct of the Passing Out Parade of the 141st Course
was the highlight of Autumn Term-2021. The list of medal winners included in the Journal is
a testimony to the fact that our cadets persevered despite the challenging times, and came
out as winners.
The Journal also includes the various training related activities undertaken by the
Training Teams, and also showcases the creative talents of the cadets through their articles
and poems that have been included in the creative section.
Finally, I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks to the various Branches and Train-
ing Teams without whose inputs this journal would not have seen the light of day.

How do you kiss to make me smile?
When you hold an ocean in your eyes.
How do you tell me sweet lies?

I KNEW WHAT I HAD TO DO
I knew what I had to do, Not for the ones who sit and cry.
I knew what it would take. The tiger must complete the hunt
I want to ride the highest wave Or else he will starve and surely die.
And run on frozen lakes.
Touch the clouds on the mountain high
Run with the wolves in the snow
I know it won’t be easy for me
But with each step I’ll grow.
I’ll bloom like the middle mist red
I’ll jump over the redwoods old.
I’ll bring fear in my enemy’s heart
As every step i take will be bold
I’ll wrestle the mighty grizzlies
I’ll climb the mountains in a single break
I’ll race the prong horns in the prairies
Retrieve treasure from the most treacherous
depth
I’ll bring down the walls in a single punch
I’ll surf in the clouds of the poetic sky
I’ll go with a brawny Ram.
And charge into a storm with a battle cry
I’ll drive in the storm blocking my path
Won’t back down even if it’s lightning
I won’t stop until I reach my goals
Even if I am hit by a belt of lightning 40277/M/144

PAPER
Even the mountains hail down Because it is very easy to go by what others
In front of the magnanimous soul believe
Whose walk others see as wanton, But it takes million drops of sweat to achieve
But no one can find the firm resolve Be the paradigm
Even when circumstances are against you! And to others dreams, act as a hover
Your resolve acts as your body cover It’s not over, until it’s over.
It’s not over, until it’s over.
You may find my words harsh and rude
Paths mould themselves according to your will Keep on moving forward and stop acting as a
brood
Aim big and stop having those cheap thrills,
Circumstances can turn themselves to hell
Never be in your boots; be the rebellious one
But mindset can decide, how much you can do
Only your holster is full of bullets

As such I’ve seen none
You are the best and no one can get your

MY LIFE IN NDA
Before the crack of the dawn People outsides are busy with smart phones
To the parade ground! Here we don’t get time for our own
That’s my life, in the PT ground Leaving away all the wrong,
Away from the world around. Learning to become tough and strong.
Bike up , straight up
Move up , shoot
Pump, jump , touch and back
Hurry up , sprint and just do that
Here are orders that never last
40953/N/145
But irony is that, days pass very fast.
Cdt Ashutosh Mishra
I started my journey in a small field of Maharashtra where I was born. From there, I was
sent to a huge factory near Pune where we were transformed into bales of cotton. It was here
wherein I was separated from my siblings but ended up making some new friends. This was
the turning point of my life. We were again separated into different groups and my bale was
earmarked for MKV Pvt. Ltd. Over here, I again underwent some transformation. Now I was
oval in shape with two loops on either side and I was also dyed maroon. I was then shipped
off to a place called National Defence Academy. Here, I was handed over to a young teen-
ager of about 17 years of age, who used to always wear me over his face. It was here that I
was christened ‘mask’. After stepping out into the real world, I realized how important my role
was. I had to protect this boy from a deadly virus called COVID-19. I always tried my best to
protect my master from contracting this virus.
Every day, I used to contact hundreds of my friends when we used to go to the mess or to
the academic blocks. It was here that we used to gossip about our masters, I was lucky to
have a master who used to wash me often and took good care of me, since there were a few
who suffered at the hands of their ignorant owners.
One fine day, in a hurry, my master forgot to wear me over his face. Later, I learned he
was awarded some punishment for not carrying me along that day and for the next three days
my master and I had to run in the hot sun, the only good part about this incident was that he
never left me alone after that day. I’m growing old now, my color too has started fading, I’m
afraid I won’t be able to help this boy out like I used to before, I really hope my grandchildren
will come to my rescue soon.

CDT MANU SHARMA (A): This pongo from the city of Gwalior was a josh type Academy Team basket-
ball player and could dole out ‘gyan’ about everything that there is in the world. People go for camps but
this man went for camping in his VI term. To add to his accomplishments he was a 4 star Roverite who
did two camps in a single month.
DCC ASHUTOSH J MISHRA (A): This Rimcollian pongo was Academy Team X-country, Book Prize
Public in Speaking & Hockey star. He believed in MRP. He always wanted to be the CQMS to confiscate
CC. His mood swings were a nightmare for all juniors, and took special interest in Covid precautions.
CQMS DIVIJ SINGH (AF): This Ranger turned Apache was a potential SCC and Blazer in category days.
Good X-country runner, 4 Star Torchie , excellent football player, famous amongst AFTT officers for his
experience with Moodle. He was the most swaggy and approachable guy in the squadron.
DCC ARJIT KUTLEHRIA (A): This Arjit of Alpha Squadron was the Drill captain and a potential COP in
Drill. He was an extraordinary player of hockey because of which he spent most of his junior term in MH
and realised the importance of training not for himself, but for his favourite understudy. The best map
reader of his course didn’t make his course walk a single extra step during Camp Torna. All his juniors
will miss him for his terrible mood swings.
SCC SHIVAM SHARMA (AF): This Chatak (which he believed himself to be), Padhaaku Flyboy from
Ghaziabad was SCC who became passing out CSM, (1st in B.Tech) He was a Five-Star torchie, course
topper twice and Merit Card in Arabic. His three understudies always ensured his training. X-country was
his nightmare for all 6 terms.
DCC SAURAV MAAN (A): A saint from the city of Meerut who lived his 6 terms in nirvana. This OG was
present in fall-ins before juniors. Put in type pongo, took interest in each squadron activity. He was a
Double Discipline Star, Torchie, potential COP drill, good in PT and X-country. Hindi was his only water-
loo.
DCC BR GAUTHAM (A): This Keralite Amaravian, a.k.a 'Bollini' ‘Bala’ was a josh type Pongo. He be-
lieved in MRP, yet was josh type in Services (JSTP Course Topper and Bayonet Pin), PT and X-country.
He didn’t make life difficult for his juniors and ensured lassi for them. From failing in first term to becom-
ing a Torchie in his IV term, he improved in everything.
DCC UJJWAL (A): The Hulk of the course from Meerut displayed much of his boxing skills in GFCL in-
stead of boxing ring. Good in PT and X-country, this jaat remained the captain of bajrang dal in every
game. His favourite understudy left no stone unturned to ensure his training in his 3rd term. He pre-
ferred memorising lyrics over Political Science notes which landed him in ATC.
DCC CHINMAY BHAKARE (A): This SPI Pongo was the sadhguru of his course. His cabin was the safe
haven of all Taants of the squadron. He tried to keep the squadron motivated for Drill Comp and became
COP Drill in his VI term. French was his waterloo. Potential Bayonet Pin, good in PT and X-country he
came in 2nd enclosure in his VI term.
CDT ADITYA KUMAR (A): This Pongo was always invisible to squadron except during X-country. This
Ghost once got a role in Fear Files. Academics ensured his training in his junior terms. Good in X-country
and Basketball, Rope kept troubling him till his VI term. His dangerous look made juniors shiver. His
“dates are good for running” lectures were very famous.
CDT R P RAI (A): This method actor Pongo was the most interested guy in the squadron socials. He was
the brand ambassador of Maggi. This approachable senior was a big foodie and was seen conducting
Punjab Socials. He was one of the most interested III termer.
CSM SAGAR SINGH KATHAYAT (A): "Actually" this CSM was from Sainik School Ghorakhal. Merit
Card in PT and 3 times X-country medallist, he was fond of tossing paneer rolls. A non interested cadet
till his V term, he suddenly became the squadron terror. Famous amongst IV termers for his "warm up"
round squadrons. Took his PT and X-country diet as an excuse for not giving socials to his understudy
and zone types.
CDT NAVDEEP SAHARAN (A): This Kunjean boxing Gold medalist drove the squadron towards winning
the Boxing Trophy. Rope was his waterloo. Feared by juniors for his deep voice and famous for his one-
liners, he became the first and only V termer to get cabin no 1 due to his "extreme" obedience.
CDT KYAMAL BEKCHANOV (AF): This Uzbeki flyboy was a stud in PT and was known for his profi-
ciency in Hindi. He was a potential torchie (CGPA 4.00) throughout his 6 terms. True believer in ‘’my
cabin, my life”. He was the handball in-charge but was never seen on courts. Highlighted in camps for
sleeping the whole time.
CDT AKSHAT RAJ (A): This Ranger turned Apache pongo was the most chill type in his course. This
senior most Ghorakhali only came out of his cabin for Maggi. Was the wannabe ‘’Desi Picasso “of squad-
ron. The “Bhasa” of his course enjoyed to the fullest but swimming remained his waterloo. Finally his
saint nature cracked under the pressure of becoming the Torna in-charge.
CDT SIDDHARTH VAJPAYEE (A): This Mustang turned Apache was the senior most pongo in squad-
ron. He was a Three Star Roverite (one time Champ) and achieved the rare feat of being a COP in report
sick. A good Squash player, led the squadron from front in the game. The Alpha squadron will miss this
Guruji for his experience and MLs.
