Origin of context of the programming ethics

It was created in 1999. It was the software development, it means, the ethical guidelines
that the users are expected to follow and apply when writing programming code or
source code. In other words it was the discipline that analyzed the ethical problems that
are created by computer technology problems.

5 simple guidelines from the current programming ethics codes and summarize
their purpose

1. Honor confidentially: The programmer must keep secret the computer


important information.
2. Respect the privacy of the others: Do not intervene in the computers of others
without being authorized.
3. Be honest ands trustworthy: If the programmer knows something is wrong with
the computer he must report it.
4. Avoid harm to others: Minimize the risk of harming others.
5. Contribute the society and human well-being: Programmers should reduce
the negative consequences of the society it means , safety and health.
Ten commandments of computer ethics.
Commandment 1:Do not use a computer to harm other people. Explanation: Don't use the
computer to damage other people; hacking, intidimination,etc.
Commandment 2:Do not interfere with other people's computer work. Explanation: Don't damage
their work, like getting on their computer and deleting all their work harming the grade.
Commandment 3: Do not snoop around in other people's computer files. Explanation: Reading
other people's emails, getting into their files and fooling around with it.
Commandment 4: Not use a computer to steal. Explanation: Do not use the computer to get or
steal information and break into other stuff.
Commandment 5: Not use a computer to bear false witness. Explanation: Do not give false
information through a computer.
Commandment 6:Not copy or use proprietary software for which you have not paid (without
permission). Explanation: Don't obtain copies from their software without permission (Copyright).
Commandment 7:Do not use other people's computer resources without authorization or proper
compensation. Explanation: Hacking, take someone's files without authorization.
Commandment 8: Not appropriate for other people's intellectual output. Explanation: Claim a work
from someone else's.
Commandment 9:Think about the social consequences of the program you are writing or the
system you are designing. Explanation: Social impact will have.
Commandment 10: Always use a computer in ways that ensure consideration and respect for other
humans. Explanation: When you use a computer, be respectful to others.
