My Language Biography

Reflect on your personal experience of language by creating your own Language Biography. Begin by
filling in the Language Biography Form below.

How many languages do you speak? Identify these I have three languages and these are
languages. Ilocano,Tagalog and English.

What is/are your first language/s or mother My first language is Ilocano.

How did you acquire your first language/s or My mother tongue was taught by my parents.

What skills can you perform using your first I can sing using those three languages.

What is/are second language/s? My second languages are Tagalog and English.

How did you learn your second language/s? I acquired my second languages through my
teachers and friends.
What skills can you perform using your second I can also sing ,easily communicate and
language/s? understand others using Tagalog and English.

What are your language strengths? I can easily communicate with other people in
other country using our universal language which
is English.
What are your language weaknesses? My weakness is that my grammar isn’t good, but
I’m still learning and overcoming it.
Which language is your favorite and why? My favorite language is of course, my native
language which is Ilocano because I find it more
comfortable for me to speak in my own language.

Language is very important for us to communicate and to live. My parents was my first teacher. They are
the one who teach me my first language (L1) and later on when I got myself in to school that’s when I
learned my second language because usually our L2 was acquired outside the house. I’m so thankful for
the knowledge they gave that this would be my treasure until the day I die.
