In the Philippines, the macro policies and programs that support and would hopefully sustain watershed

management include the following:

 Presidential Decree No. 705 - Governing the management, utilization, and conservation of the
country’s forestlands including watersheds (1975)
 Republic Act No. 7586 - Establishment of protected areas to promote biodiversity and genetic
resources conservation (1992)
 DENR Administrative Order No. 99-01 - Adoption of the watershed and ecosystems approach as an
overarching strategic framework for environment and natural resources planning and management

rationalize and prioritize reforestation in watersheds and develop national master plan for flood
