Week 5
Food Chain and Food Web
Life is all about survival. All living things, big or small require energy
in one form or another. Energy comes into the living world in the form of
sunlight. Living organisms would not be able to make macromolecules
(proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and complex carbohydrates) without a
constant energy input. Green plants and photosynthetic organisms trap this
energy and store it in the form of chemical energy of food.

interconnected is known as food web.
In this learning activity, you will learn how organisms acquire energy
and how that energy is passed from one organism to another through food
webs and their constituent food chains.

Questions:
1. What organism is the producer in the food chain?
4. What is the primary source of energy that drives the food chain?
2
Activity 2: Getting Started with Food Webs
Directions: Study the given food chains below. Use the food chains to
help you draw the arrows on the food web and answer the questions that
follow. One arrow has been drawn for you.
Write your answers in a separate sheet of paper.

Guide Questions:
3. What is/are the secondary and tertiary consumer(s) in the food web?
3
Activity 3.1: Make me a Web!
Direction: Complete the food web below by drawing arrows to signify the
relationship between each organism. After you have completed the food web,
you need to derive five (5) food chains from the food web you created.
