STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

NAME: Anshul Sharma

INTRODUCTION

I Anshul Sharma, born on 12th February 1997 hereby furnishing my statement of purpose for student

visa application New Zealand. I reside in Delhi, capital of India bearing Passport Number P3844471.

Through this Statement of Purpose, my reason for choosing New Zealand as a country to study and

Master of Professional Business Analysis course at Victoria University of Wellington, Wellington

and the future plan post completion of my studies have been put forward in the document.

FAMILY BACKGROUND AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT

I belong from a humble family of 4 members. My father, Inder Mohan Sharma, currently works for an

MNC. He has worked for the same company for almost 30 plus years. I would say I get the quality of

working hard in life from my father itself. My mother, Aruna Sharma, is a Architect by profession. She

runs her business firm which provides various architectural services. And also, my Grandmother,

Kamlesh Sharma also lives along with us.

I completed my Masters in Human Resource from Vivekanand Education Society Institute of

Management Studies and Research (VESIM), Mumbai in the year 2020, which is one of the college

part of University of Mumbai and my under-graduation was also in the same field of Human Resource

from Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management and Research (BVIMR), Delhi in the year 2018.

Apart from my College education, I completed my High School education from Lancers Convent in the

year 2015(CBSE).

WORK EXPERIENCE

Working in a challenging and dynamic environment shapes the true self of an individual. Covid pandemic

caused the environment to work a tough challenge to work on. I took my first full time job for PVR

Cinemas (on payroll of FUTURZ STAFFING) in September, 2021. It was tough to travel to Gurgaon

from Delhi. But the main hurdle was to manage the Haryana Region, as I was the only Business Human

Resource Associate in the region. I was assigned two cinemas in Gurgaon and also month by month it

got added to 5 cinemas with a team of 4 Associates under me. Though I worked for the Cinema industry

for around 6 months but it helped shape out my true identity and even enhanced my skills in various

domains.

Currently, I am employed as a HR Trainee with Uplers from June 2022, which is a remote working

organization. Here, in the organization I have the responsibility for assisting the HRBP and help Partner

with frontline leaders to conduct reviews and meetings.

I took my IELTS Examination on 9th July, 2022. I secured an Overall Band Score of 7.5. The

individual band scores are listed under:

LISTENING – 8.5, READING – 8, WRITING – 6, SPEAKING – 7.5.

MY REASON FOR CHOOSING NEW ZEALAND AND THE COURSE

New Zealand is considered as one of the safest countries in the world for international students along with

excellent pedagogy. Year by year it is innovating itself in various areas and data being one of the

prominent one. In today’s scenario, enterprises are more inclined towards data orientated results through

various analytical tools and software. Managerial decisions related to businesses are more dependent on

the data analytics and its representation. Thus, it becomes an integral part to me as I combine my

managerial skills and knowledge with impactful business analysis and play my part to be someone who

can refine the oil for the various decisions in the management. Learning business analysis will help me

improve my skillset and career path. Thus, I am certain that New Zealand will provide abundant

opportunities for the skills required and even course- Masters of Professional Business Analysis will help

enhance my skillset in data.

I was introduced to the word Analytics in the year 2018, back while I was pursuing a Masters. During the

course, I choose a specialization in Human Resource with essential subject in HR Analytics. This was the

time I got introduced to the concept of how data is analyzed and interpreted in organizations through

statistical softwares. To add to the knowledge of HR in the masters phase, I bundled myself by various

certifications related to Analytics, Data science involving languages like Python that intrigued me more

towards the sphere of Analytics. Certifications do play a great role of introducing us to the domain but

being able to utilize the pool of resources from a greater source is something which at the end of the day
proves beneficial. Since New Zealand already have a number of Noble Prizes that simply evince the vast

scope of research and study opportunities in the area of Analytics it can provide me with.

Post completion of my Masters, I joined an organization wherein the management was very much

inclined towards analytics and its role in their decisions. There I was working in a project that was critical

for the business prospects of the organization. The project taught me to plan the tasks based on priority,

and interpret the data for required information. Thus, I decided that I want to upgrade my knowledge in

Analytics and so that It proves to be good combination to my Managerial knowledge. Upon searching, I

found the course at Victoria University of Wellington to be something that perfectly suits that I am

looking for. The course curriculum at the university is rich and highly intuitive in knowledge of

Analytics. Getting to learn about methods, techniques to be used in business for effective decision making

is very integral and the course provided a complete package of business, computer knowledge. The cherry

on the cake was Research project wherein the student is partnered with an organization and will be able to

get real live exposure to the same. So, it can broaden my HR knowledge and can act as important

contributor to decision making.

After I was in a firm mindset that I am in need to enhance my present skillset it become really important

for me to find a country that perfectly ticks everything that makes the experience wholesome for an

international student. For this I found New Zealand has the best country in terms of quality of life since it

gives air full of multi-culture environment and even it is one of the best countries for study that is safe

and even peaceful. I am elated that on probing I was able to find such a beautiful country to study and

even the course at Victoria University of Wellington that perfectly fits my requirement related to Business

analytics. The program is host of subjects that prepare us in various areas of business by helping us

expand our Logical Thinking and find strategies that enhance business decisions. Also, the Consulting

Practice and Research Project is something that will make me knock door to my immediate goal. The

university also has good number of international students and building a global ecosystem and even gives
the student global exposure. Thus I would put forward my inclination to pursue the Business Analysis

course at one of prestigious and renowned universities in the globe.

I would like to conclude that I think I can be a positive addition to the country and universities global

exposure to the international students and be able to pursue this renowned course through one of the

renowned universities. I think the country is a perfect match for what my goal is in regards with education

and even future scope in the domain. I will be giving my best to utilize the knowledge and my exposure to

domains related to business analysis and management.  The theoretical and practical knowledge through

various techniques will act as a guiding principle in overcoming business related issue. With this course I

hope to become a successful Business Analyst and act as a link to drive business decisions.
