Peka Form Germination)

The document describes an experiment to study the conditions needed for seed germination. It was hypothesized that a seed will germinate only if there is water, air, and suitable temperature. The experiment used peas, cotton, water, and test tubes, placing them in different conditions to test the effects on germination. The results showed that seeds only germinated when there was water, air, and a warm temperature, supporting the hypothesis.

Name: Class: Date: Title Aim Stage in the germination of seeds To study the conditions needed for seed

germination.

Hypothesis A seed will germinate only if there is water, air and suitable temperature. The Scientific A seed germinate when it starts to grow radicle first and then the plumule. Three important conditions required

Knowledge for seed germination. Variables a)manipulated: presence of air & water b)responding: seed germination c)controlled: type of seed Materials Apparatus Diagram green peas ,cotton, cooled boiled water, labeling paper. test tubes, refrigerator, test tube rack, thread , ruler.

Method

1. Four test tubes are prepared, labeled A, B, C & D, with their contents as shown in diagram. 2. Test tubes A, B & C are placed in the laboratory. Test tube D is placed in the refrigerator. 3. The seeds are observed/ measured for three days.

Result Test tube A B C D Analyzing data Water / X / / Presence Air / / X / Warmth / / / X Germination of seeds / X X X

1. Radicle will grow and seed will germinate when there are water, air and suitable temperature. 2. If water is absent, the seed will not germinate.

Conclusion The hypothesis is accepted. A seed will germinate only if water, air and suitable temperature are present.
