Shear Wall

The document discusses calculating the required thickness of a shear wall. It determines the maximum pier force is 3442.0384 based on an ETABS analysis. It then uses this force in an equation from the NSCP 2015 code to calculate the required thickness as 300mm. The summary provides the key steps and conclusion of determining the required shear wall thickness.

SHEARWALL

Shear wall thickness is calculated as follow:

Vu = 3442.0384 (Max pier force from ETABS)

Vu = ØVn NSCP 2015- Section 411.5.4.3

Vu=Ø (0.83 √ f ' c h d)

3442.0384(10)3 =(0.75)(0.83)( √ 28)(h)(0.8)(5 0 00)

h=261.23860044 ≈ 300 mm

Therefore, required thickness that can be use is at least 300 mm for shear wall.
