II. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A. Logo

We used three dominant colors - red, orange and brown - for our logo. The text
“Gets, Nuggets” is colored red because if we look at the positive psychology
qualities of red in relation to the fast food industry, red triggers stimulation, appetite,
hunger and it attracts attention. The circle that makes the logo as a whole is colored
orange since red and yellow, when mixed, symbolizes both the triggering of hunger
and speed or quickness. In addition, this circular shape is less sharp, friendlier, and
more inviting. We believe that the color will make customers come back as they
get attracted again and again. Lastly, brown is colored for the character in our logo
because it is the basic color appearance of our main product which is nuggets. We
also made it as a cartoon to make the logo look light, fresh and fun to look at.
Limiting our colors to only three will make our logo simple and easy to remember.

8
B. Tagline

would be needing in order to be a hundred percent ready for the day ahead. We
want them to start their day right that is why with its nutritious and delicious content,
our nuggets give them a satisfying feeling and pump them up to always keep going!

friendly chicken nuggets.

incorporating the need to be health conscious.

individuals who are at Baguio especially if there are festive events such as the Panagbenga
festival and other occasions. They also like to enjoy the cold weather together with
enjoying eating some dishes.

B. Trends

The food industry is surrounded by a lot of present trends. Health consciousness for one is
a growing trend most especially to millennials. And as we adapt to this trends, innovation
or development of our products shall be considered. Unlike, other fast foods, we want to
give our target market the satisfaction that they want and that is to be healthy and fit even
if they eat a lot. Thus, we made a unique combination, the chicken nuggets and squash,
which will definitely be popular to them.

1. Political

 Implemented rules and regulations by the government

- According to the Congress of the Philippines, the Republic Act No. 7394 or the
“Consumer Act of the Philippines” states that “It is the policy of the State to protect the
interests of the consumer, promote his general welfare and to establish standards of
conduct for business and industry. Towards this end, the State shall implement
measures to achieve the following objectives:
a) Protection against hazards to health and safety;
b) Protection against deceptive, unfair and unconscionable sales acts and
practices;
c) Provision of information and education to facilitate sound choice and the
proper exercise of rights by the consumer;
d) Provision of adequate rights and means of redress; and
11
e) Involvement of consumer representatives in the formulation of social and
economic policies.
We should strictly comply with these rules and regulations to be able to stand up high
in the business world and to gain the trust of the larger market.

 Business policies in starting up a fast food service business

- In starting up a catering and fast food service business, one needs to have sufficient
knowledge about the investment and manpower requirement, other expenses, food
costing and pricing and profit. It is also important to know how to price the food
correctly. In pricing the food, the cost of ingredients, overhead expenses and mark-up
that covers other indirect expenses and desired profit should be considered.
(Entrepinoys, 2015)

 Trading regulations
- The average tariffs on agricultural products increased slightly from 11.48 percent in
2017 to 11.49 in 2018. The Philippines maintains a two-tiered tariff policy for
sensitive agricultural products including rice, corn, pork, chicken meat, sugar, and
coffee. These products are subject to a tariff rate quota (TRQ) and all imports outside
of the minimum access volume are taxed at a higher out-of-quota rate. At present, a
few TRQ products have achieved unified in-quota and out-of-quota tariff rates,
including chicken, frozen or chilled (40 percent). Currently, there is an additional
special safeguard duty in place for chicken meat, which effectively doubles the rate of
out-of-quota tariff protection. Administrative Order (A.O.) 9 of 1996, as amended by
A.O. 8 of 1997 and A.O. 1 of 1998, established rules for implementing TRQs and
allocating import licenses. (The International Trade Administration, 2018).

The problem here lies when our suppliers turns out to be importing chicken meat which
is the main ingredient needed to produce our product. Because of this, we may face
financial problems because of the tariffs.

 Sanitary regulations
- Philippines has food safety regulations and standards, however, they are not always
followed by all dining establishments. All food establishments, including restaurants,
in the Philippines are required to obtain a license to handle and serve food. The license
ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices are being followed, and an annual
inspection looks at the safety and hygiene of the restaurant facility, cooking equipment,
sanitary equipment and procedures, food processes and control and personnel hygiene
and safety, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
If a restaurant is not in compliance with the GMP, it is shut down and the license is
either suspended or revoked. All food handlers in restaurants must also complete a
health certificate before employment. (Titus, 2018)
In these way, the customers will feel the assurance that what we are trustworthy in
terms of the quality of our product and the whole business as well.

12
- The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Health (DOH) have
implemented rules and regulations which is the Republic Act No. 10611, otherwise
known as the “Food Safety Act of 2013”. This states that it is “An act to strengthen the
food safety regulatory system in the country to protect consumer health and facilitate
market access of local foods and food products, and for other purposes”. (Official
Gazette, 2015)

This act will ensure that we will be selling safe-to-eat food products and help in
promoting food safety not only in our own but also in the whole country.

2. Economic

 Economic productivity
- The Philippine economy is starting to grow and develop through the help of all the
employers and employees and other people who contribute to the country’s welfare.

 State of recession
- Despite the 2008 recession and the resulting decrease in consumer confidence across
the globe, average consumer fast-food spending has increased (The Economist, 2010)
due to convenience and low-cost.

 Employment rates
- Among industries, fast-food chains employed the most number of workers with
130,304 (30.1%) (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2017). These indicates that we will
be employing a number of employees, thus, contributing to the decrease in
unemployment rate in the country.

 Labor codes for employees

- Employees’ roles in the industry are vital so the employers must treat them with utmost
sincerity and respect as they do to their selves. They must be granted with the rightful
salaries and wages, benefits and insurances and responsibilities. In return, they must
also follow the rules and regulations set by the management.

 Income rate
- The salaries and wages of the personnel should be based on their qualifications and
experience but this should not be lower than the minimum wage. According to
Philippine Statistics Authority (2017), fast-food chains also pays the second highest
compensation with PHP17.9 billion (28.1%) next to restaurants.

13
 Prices of raw materials
- The prices of raw materials are not constant. There are some days that these are
increasing, there are some days that it’s not. The increase in the prices are often seen
in times of calamities such as typhoon wherein there will be only a few stock of their
product thus making the sellers raise the prices. With this situation, the prices of our
products will also be affected, thus also affecting consumer spending.

 Inflation rates
- The implementation of the TRAIN law brought up a lot of issues. One of these is the
inflation rates in foods and oils. Because of this inflation, there’s a tendency that our
suppliers may raise the prices of their products, thus, affecting our business. For
example, we might cut-off or reduce the number of the ingredients we are buying. We
may also result to buy cheaper products as a substitute which will lead to our business
lowering the prices of our products or worse, not even getting a profit.

3. Social

 Healthy lifestyle trends

- There are a lot of health food trends present this year. Some of which are the prebiotics,
veganism, sugar-free eating, nutritarianism, apple cider vinegar and adaptogens
(Freeman, 2018). Because of these, some citizens want to eat nutritious foods such as
vegetables and fruits. Some wants to eat a lot but still maintain a good body proportion.
Some wants to avoid diseases and some wants to have a balanced diet or to be
physically fit. With these, we have incorporated nutritious vegetables and spices in our
products in order to gain the confidence of our customers that we are employing healthy
lifestyle.

 Population growth rate

- The population of the Philippines has been steadily growing for many years. According
to the latest UN estimates, the country’s 2019 population is 108.11 million (World
Population Review, 2018). With these population, there is a possibility that our
business will gain huge popularity and lots of customers. However, there will still be a
problem. For example, if we have a huge number of customers, there is a chance that
our supply will not be enough for all of them. With these in mind, we may lose some
of our customers.

 Cultural preferences
- Culture is the people’s way of life. The different cultures in the country have different
beliefs, special delicacies, and preferences. Since this is the case, we must take these
things in to consideration. For example, some cultural groups do not eat meat while
others do.

14
 Age preferences
- Food intake differs from one age group to another. Children like sweets and snacks.
Youths like to explore new things. And, adults most likely want to eat nutritious foods.
Thus, we will make something that can attract a larger market from all ages.

 Social Security
- DOLE Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCO) were assessing numerous malls,
supermarkets, restaurants, fast foods, and other service establishments across the
country on their compliance with the Department Order 178. (DOLE, 2017). They are
checking if each industry is prescribing the appropriate footwear for women employees,
if the department order also provides rest periods, appropriate floorings or mats, as well
as tables or work surfaces with adjustable heights and readily accessible seats in
workplaces.

4. Technological

 Social Media Platform

- Maximizing the use of social media platform to promote and market the product. And
having an accessible website or social media account allows customers to be updated of
the latest promos and events your business would offer. It is a strong market strategy as
this generation is attached to it. This platform being widely used is also brings convenience
and can easily be manipulated. Customers are easily informed of the business with just a
click of the mouse or tap on the screen.

 Electronic Payment
- Another arising platform is the e-payment or the electronic payment that is cashless,
hassle- free and safer. It is a way of paying bills with just a click or two, whenever and
wherever you are. In this way, customers and sellers and ensure of safe and hassle-free
business transaction.

 Enhanced and New Cooking Technologies

- Inventors and innovators continue to create and discover things that are of great help to
the everyday living of people. And one sector that they have done.

 Reviews
- With the emergence of blogs and social media, reviews being published about the
business by patrons can boost the potential market. Patrons may spread all but positive
notes and leave priceless awareness regarding their experience of the product or service
which may attract and convince more costumers to try it also. However, unsatisfied with
the product or service, patron may bring potentially harmful reviews which are not good
for the business.

15
 Geolocalization
- Customers which are unfamiliar of the location of the business, might as well use the
developed tracking and mapping device that will find the fastest and convenient way
toward arriving to the exact location. Google Maps and Waze lead the industry in providing
customers this experience.

5. Environmental

 CLAYGO (Clean As You Go)

- The observation of this rule can contribute to the conservation and preservation of the
environment as garbage are disposed properly and are not littered anywhere. With this, the
business keeps up the tidiness and order of the workplace and the dining area as well-
leaving a good impression to the customers about cleanliness and orderliness in providing
products and services.

 Sustainability
- Resources are scarce in nature, that is why business sectors are gearing toward
incorporating innovation in their business cycle. The use of recyclable materials and eco-
friendly equipment and utensils will help a lot in conversing the non-renewable resources.
Having metal straws that are reusable, and spoon and fork that are made of wood are great
examples of innovation.

6. Legal

 No Segregation, No Collection Policy

- With the ordinance passed by the government, business should strictly ensure the proper
waste segregation all throughout the duration of business period. There should be at least
three (3) garbage bins present that are properly labeled with residuals, papers, and plastics.
Another bin can be included for biodegradable wastes.

 Anti- Discrimination Act

- Customers and employees, regardless of race, gender preference, age, class status,
disability or religious and political beliefs are all entitled equal treatment. Customers
should be served well to their satisfaction despite the differences and employees should be
given equal opportunities to prove their selves’ worthy of the position. Nobody should be
treated inhumane and everybody should be treated with utmost respect. This strict
observation of the law might give a positive impact for the business.

17
Threat of New Entrants
Established chains have the resources to retaliate aggressively through pricing promotions,
deterring new players from entering the marketplace. The managements’ products would differ
not only through production but also cost-wise. Having new entrants can also help other businesses
most especially if they are more expensive. However, they are still competitors coming in the way
and so consumers can also have the opportunity to switch to other fast food chains.

Threat of Substitutions
In The threat of substitute products is about the alternative products consumers could buy and
consume or similar products and services. The advantage of our business is that it has better quality
than most products since it is produced through an effective and essential way. Second is that it is
affordable the product is made affordable for all consumers in order to maximize our resources for
the consumers. But other competitors have a wide variety of uses for the product or different
factors in producing the product that would have changed the size, shape, and taste of the product
which would compete with our quality product. Changing market tastes would also affect our
product due to different tastes in food due to health problems, scarcity of supply, and new and
different competitors.

Competitive Rivalry
Competition is primarily cost-based with businesses continuously investing in their production and
service processes to undercut competitors. Nevertheless, in a food industry and specifically to fast
food chains that may have lots of similarities on products, there will always be differentiations or
variations to the offers.

Power of Buyers
In the determinants of buyer power of a business the business has many competitors that also
produces chicken nuggets, fried chicken and the like. The names of this businesses are KFC, Mc
Donald’s, and Jollibee; this are the different businesses that our business has to compete with. The
business is at a disadvantages because Mcdo and Jollibee have several establishments in Session
road, Harisson road and Bonifacio road.

18
Power of Suppliers
With a competitive supply chain, supplier power is limited. Suppliers and the business will both
benefit since the management would order a big amount or volume of their products since it is a
fast food chain. They can also establish loyalty and can also avail substitute products in case of
scarcity of supplies in a given time. However, there are consumers that gives importance to what
they are used to into a certain product. An example would be if there is a sudden change of
suppliers, this may give a change to their tastes. Lastly, businesses with high supplier concentration
attract fewer buyers and this lowers the prices.

Strengths
Gets, Nuggets offers not only delicious but also fresh and healthy products our target
market will be consuming. Aside from that, the management also considers the price that will be
as affordable as you can imagine. Furthermore, lower product prices mean lower prices to pay for
the production of the goods, which will benefit the business by allowing it to save more assets.
Another benefit from lower prices would bring about efficient production. When the product is in
demand, the business is able to sell more and produce more products for the market and to be able
to be truly successful, the management will be employing friendly and approachable staff so that
the customers will not hesitate on buying and in order to attract more customers. Friendly
employees also contribute to the creation of a good atmosphere inside the place that can make the
customers’ experience of the food enjoyable, and delicious. Kind employees also give out an
impression to the customers, thus, creating loyal customers and long lasting relationships. These
are the key points at which people will meet you and begin to form an impression of you and the

Weaknesses
Restaurants that fail to provide an ambiance that makes dining out a nice break can fail.
Loud music that causes you to hear unclearly your fellow diners and unattractive or downright
dirty decor can detract from the ambiance and signify a major restaurant weakness. Therefore, the
atmosphere of a restaurant is important to the customers because they look for a place of relaxation
even if it is a fast food type. In addition, the business has not yet established a good reputation
since it is only starting and is not sure if the customers and the business will click. Lastly, what the
business is about to offer are the usual products that you see in the market.

Opportunities
The business can follow the present trends because social media influencers who uses
nuggets as one of their content for entertainment like Youtubers, Vloggers and the like can help
promote the product of the business. It can also give a description of the product to the potential
consumers. In this way, the business’ target market will also recognize and influenced by this,
which means, it will attract more customers. The local products and ingredients needed in the
production that can be easily availed or accessed in the market will create another opportunity.
Thus, making it support the local products. The business can also inform the target market with
the use of social media by having promotional posters for advertisement uploaded on Facebook,
Instagram, and Twitter.

Threats
Numerous competitors will never be out of the business context when planning or raising
a business of your own. Either they could be the famous restaurants in town or even around the
world, the small stalls that attracts students in particular or any other businesses that provides foods
for the whole community. There will also be a great competition over the attraction of the
customers in the market. As for the changing of market tastes, the consumers might get tired of a
certain product, the business offers and they might choose other products present in the market
that may be appealing to them. Suppliers can also be a threat to the business because they produce
or supply the raw materials needed in order to produce the product of the business. They can also
raise the prices of what they sell especially with the implementation of the TRAIN law. The
environment can also affect the business because one of the ingredients needed to create the
nuggets is squash and due to bad weather, typhoons and the like, the supply of squash will decrease
and the prices for squash can increase.

V. BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

A. Product Description

1. Squash is one of the most versatile and delicious foods available throughout the
world. It has a very rich nutritional profile that consists of various organic
compounds, nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, such as vitamins A, C, E, and B6
which are responsible for providing all its impressive health benefits (Staughton,
2018). Thus, due to its rich nutritional content, the management thought of
incorporating it to chicken nuggets which are widely known especially among
students because it serves as their snack before, during or after class. Both the meat
and squash will be thoroughly mixed to give the customers a new taste that will
surely linger in their mouth. In addition, they will also add chicken gizzard with
this delicacy and along with this is the different flavored sauce to match the taste
of the chicken nuggets such as sweet and spicy; sweet and sour and the like.

2. Chili pepper is good for ingestion; a powerful rubefacient which relieves pain by
counterirritant effect; cures stomach pain, gout, dyspepsia, and cholera and many
more others. Carrots are also good source of several vitamins and minerals,
especially vitamin A (from beta-carotene), biotin, vitamin K (phylloquinone),
potassium and vitamin B6. With these nutrition and benefits alone, the management
have decided to make dynamite, a snack which is different from any other foods
you've ever tasted before. It will not only be tasty but it will also give you a feeling
of hotness due to its spicy flavor mainly caused by the chili. This spiciness is
coupled with the savory cheese, tender grind chicken breast meat and nutritious
carrots.

3. Dedication balls offer yummy, festive, and joyful graham balls. This all-time
favorite, would definitely sustain everyone’s craving for sweets. They could also
be a great source of nutrients. One of the product’s main ingredient is condensed
milk, a source of calcium that can help in making the consumers’ bones strong and
body healthy. According to Medical News Today, chocolates can also lower
cholesterol levels, prevent cognitive decline, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular
problems while nuts are high in vitamin E. They also boost your memory. Grahams
are also beneficial since they contain proteins, vitamins and minerals. Grahams,
Choc-nut, and condensed milk all mixed to one to make a healthy, delicious snack.

4. Gulaman drink may seem simple and ordinary in almost every ones’ eyes, however,
you do not know that it still nutritious. Gelatin is made by cooking collagen. It is
almost entirely protein and has many health benefits. It can be used in food
production, eaten as bone broth or taken as a supplement. This drink complement
with various foods such as our products.

F. Materials Requisition and Receiving Procedures

The production manager is in-charge of the business’ materials requisition to forge a
request to move raw materials. The materials manager will now sign the made request, and
once it is accepted and off, the raw materials can already be relocated.

After ordering the supplies and equipment’s needed by the business, the suppliers will
deliver in accordance to the terms and conditions of the suppliers being agreed. Once the
purchase requisition is received by the purchase department of the business then they verify
the purchase requisition document. Then they create a purchase order referencing the
purchase requisition. The purchase order document contains information including the
material or service required, quantity, delivery date, vendor information, price information
etc. This purchase order is then sent to the supplier. Since the purchase order document is
sent outside the business, it is an external purchase document. Once the supplier receives
the purchase document, it ships the required material or does the required service. If it is
material, then a goods receipt will take place when the material arrives at the business’
premises. After invoice verification, the supplier is paid for the material or being
represented as an account to be paid by the business.

materials’ condition, and will be recorded as a received material.
