Andrews mother had helped him to memorize over 80 Bible verses word for word by the time he was six years of age. It wasnt a race, she says. Our pace was very relaxed and natural. In fact, when someone finally asked, How many verses does he know? I had to stop and add them up. Andrew enjoyed mastering new verses very much, and the list grew quickly. But how did she do it? What books did she read first? Is there a trick to it? (See: When Memorizing Comes Easy - g87 7/22 p26,27)
WHEN faced with challenges, how do you cope? In Jesus case, recalling an appropriate scripture helped him to face Satans challenges. (Matthew 4:1-11) Likewise, when King David faced personal trials, he was strengthened by Gods Word. He said: When my disquieting thoughts became many inside of me, your own consolations began to fondle my soul. - Psalm 94:19. In a similar manner, recalling a favorite scripture can console us or give us strength when we face challenges. For example, Rex, who is now 89 years of age, has been a full-time evangelizer since 1931. Yet, he says: I often felt inadequate when given a special assignment in the ministry. How did he cope? I recalled my favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5, which says: Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. Recalling and applying this scripture helped me to carry out my assignments successfully. Even young ones benefit from having a favorite scripture. Six-year-old Jack says that his favorite scripture is Matthew 24:14. This scripture motivates him to go preaching with his parents. He says: I like going witnessing every Saturday with my mum, dad, and sister. Like Jesus, do you sometimes face direct challenges to your faith? Then Philippians 4:13 may become one of your favorite scriptures. Like King David, do you suffer from disquieting thoughts? Then recalling Philippians 4:6,7 may help you to cope. Do you sometimes worry that your service to God is in vain? Then remembering 1 Corinthians 15:58 will give you strength. By memorizing appropriate scriptures, we allow Gods Word to exert power in our lives. (Hebrews 4:12) Such favorite scriptures can provide us with both strength and comfort. - Romans 15:4. Exodus 34:6,7 And Jehovah went passing by before his face and declaring: Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness and truth, preserving loving-kindness for thousands, pardoning error and transgression and sin, but by no means will he give exemption from punishment,... Deuteronomy 6:5 And you must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your vital force. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 And these words that I am commanding you today must prove to be on your heart; and you must inculcate them in your son and speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up. And you must tie them as a sign upon your hand, and they must serve as a frontlet band between your eyes; and you must write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be courageous and strong. Do not be afraid or suffer a shock before them, because Jehovah your God is the one marching with you. He will neither desert you nor leave you entirely. Deuteronomy 32:4 The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness, with whom there is no injustice; Righteous and upright is he. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law should not depart from your mouth, and you must in an undertone read in it day and night, in order that you may take care to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way successful and then you will act wisely. 1 Samuel 16:7 Do not look at his appearance and at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For not the way man sees is the way God sees, because mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is. 2 Kings 6:15-17 When the minister of the man of the true God rose early to get up, and went out, why, there a military force was surrounding the city with horses and war chariots. At once his attendant said to him: Alas, my master! What shall we do? But he said: Do not be afraid, for there are more who are with us than those who are with them. And Elisha began to pray and say: O Jehovah, open his eyes, please, that he may see. Immediately Jehovah opened the attendants eyes, so that he saw; and, look! the mountainous region was full of horses and war chariots of fire all around Elisha. 1 Chronicles 28:9 And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a complete heart and with a delightful soul; for all hearts Jehovah is searching, and every inclination of the thoughts he is discerning. If you search for him, he will let himself be found by you; but if you leave him, he will cast you off forever. 2 Chronicles 16:9
For, as regards Jehovah, his eyes are roving about through all the earth to show his strength in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him. 2 Chronicles 32:7,8 Be courageous and strong. Do not be afraid nor be terrified because of the king of Assyria and on account of all the crowd that is with him; for with us there are more than there are with him. With him there is an arm of flesh, but with us there is Jehovah our God to help us and to fight our battles. Ezra 7:10 Ezra himself had prepared his heart to consult the law of Jehovah and to do it and to teach in Israel regulation and justice. Job 27:5 Until I expire I shall not take away my integrity from myself! Job 31:1 A covenant I have concluded with my eyes. So how could I show myself attentive to a virgin? Psalm 1:1-3 Happy is the man that has not walked in the counsel of the wicked ones, And in the way of sinners has not stood, And in the seat of ridiculers has not sat. But his delight is in the law of Jehovah, And in his law he reads in an undertone day and night. And he will certainly become like a tree planted by streams of water, That gives its own fruit in its season And the foliage of which does not wither, And everything he does will succeed. Psalm 15:1-3 O Jehovah, who will be a guest in your tent? Who will reside in your holy mountain? He who is walking faultlessly and practicing righteousness And speaking the truth in his heart. He has not slandered with his tongue. To his companion he has done nothing bad, And no reproach has he taken up against his intimate acquaintance. Psalm 16:8,9 I have placed Jehovah in front of me constantly. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be made to totter. Therefore my heart does rejoice, and my glory is inclined to be joyful. In grassy pastures he makes me lie down; By well-watered resting-places he conducts me. My soul he refreshes. He leads me in the tracks of righteousness for his names sake. Even though I walk in the valley of deep shadow, I fear nothing bad, For you are with me; Your rod and your staff are the things that comfort me. You arrange before me a table in front of those showing hostility to me. With oil you have greased my head; My cup is well filled. Surely goodness and loving-kindness themselves will pursue me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of Jehovah to the length of days.
Psalm 26:1,2 Judge me, O Jehovah, for I myself have walked in my own integrity, And in Jehovah I have trusted, that I may not wobble. Psalm 37:10,11 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. Psalm 94:19 When my disquieting thoughts became many inside of me, Your own consolations began to fondle my soul. Psalm 101:3 I shall not set in front of my eyes any good-for-nothing thing. The doing of those who fall away I have hated; It does not cling to me. Psalm 103:8-14 Jehovah is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness. He will not for all time keep finding fault, Neither will he to time indefinite keep resentful. He has not done to us even according to our sins; Nor according to our errors has he brought upon us what we deserve. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, His lovingkindness is superior toward those fearing him. As far off as the sunrise is from the sunset, So far off from us he has put our transgressions. As a father shows mercy to his sons, Jehovah has shown mercy to those fearing him. For he himself well knows the formation of us, Remembering that we are dust. Psalm 104:14,15 He is making green grass sprout for the beasts, And vegetation for the service of mankind, To cause food to go forth from the earth, And wine that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice, To make the face shine with oil, And bread that sustains the very heart of mortal man. Ecclesiastes 3:12,13 I have come to know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good during ones life; and also that every man should eat and indeed drink and see good for all his hard work. It is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 4:12 And a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two. Ecclesiastes 6:9 Better is the seeing by the eyes than the walking about of the soul. This too is vanity and a striving after the wind. Ecclesiastes 7:9 Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. Ecclesiastes 12:13
The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole obligation of man. Isaiah 11:9 They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea. Isaiah 25:8 He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. Isaiah 40:15,17 Look! The nations are as a drop from a bucket; and as the film of dust on the scales they have been accounted. Look! He lifts the islands themselves as mere fine dust... All the nations are as something nonexistent in front of him; as nothing and an unreality they have been accounted to him. Isaiah 40:26 Raise YOUR eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not come to know or have you not heard? Jehovah, the Creator of the extremities of the earth, is a God to time indefinite. He does not tire out or grow weary. There is no searching out of his understanding. He is giving to the tired one power; and to the one without dynamic energy he makes full might abound. Boys will both tire out and grow weary, and young men themselves will without fail stumble, 31 but those who are hoping in Jehovah will regain power. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not tire out. Isaiah 41:10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness. Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than YOUR ways, and my thoughts than YOUR thoughts. Isaiah 65:17 For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart. Jeremiah 1:6-10 But I said: Alas, O Sovereign Lord Jehovah! Here I actually do not know how to speak, for I am but a boy. And Jehovah went on to say to me: Do not say, I am but a boy. But to all those to whom I shall send you, you should go; and everything that I shall command you, you should speak. Do not be afraid because of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you, is the utterance of Jehovah. At that Jehovah thrust his hand out and caused it to touch my mouth. Then Jehovah said to me: Here I have put my words in your mouth. See, I have commissioned you this day to be over the nations and over the kingdoms, in order to uproot and to pull down and to destroy and to tear down, to build and to plant. Jeremiah 1:17-19 And as for you, you should gird up your hips, and you must rise up and speak to them everything that I myself command you. Do not be struck
with any terror because of them, in order that I may not strike you with terror before them. But as for me, here I have made you today a fortified city and an iron pillar and copper walls against all the land, toward the kings of Judah, toward her princes, toward her priests and toward the people of the land. And they will be certain to fight against you, but they will not prevail against you, for I am with you, is the utterance of Jehovah, to deliver you. Jeremiah 10:23 I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate. Who can know it? Jeremiah 17:10 I, Jehovah, am searching the heart, examining the kidneys, even to give to each one according to his ways, according to the fruitage of his dealings. Jeremiah 20:9 And I said: I am not going to make mention of him, and I shall speak no more in his name. And in my heart it proved to be like a burning fire shut up in my bones; and I got tired of holding in, and I was unable to endure it. Ezekiel 3:18 When I say to someone wicked, You will positively die, and you do not actually warn him and speak in order to warn the wicked one from his wicked way to preserve him alive, he being wicked, in his error he will die, but his blood I shall ask back from your own hand. Ezekiel 38:23 And I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah. Jonah 2:2 Out of my distress I called out to Jehovah, and he proceeded to answer me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried for help. You heard my voice. Habakkuk 3:17,18 Although the fig tree itself may not blossom, and there may be no yield on the vines; the work of the olive tree may actually turn out a failure, and the terraces themselves may actually produce no food; the flock may actually be severed from the pen, and there may be no herd in the enclosures; Yet, as for me, I will exult in Jehovah himself; I will be joyful in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:19 Jehovah the Sovereign Lord is my vital energy; and he will make my feet like those of the hinds, and upon my high places he will cause me to tread. Zephaniah 2:3 Seek Jehovah, all YOU meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. Probably YOU may be concealed in the day of Jehovahs anger. Zechariah 4:6 Not by a military force, nor by power, but by my spirit, Jehovah of armies has said. Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tenth parts into the storehouse, that there may come to be food in my house; and test me out, please, in this respect, Jehovah
of armies has said, whether I shall not open to YOU people the floodgates of the heavens and actually empty out upon YOU a blessing until there is no more want.
Matthew 5:3-12 Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them. Happy are those who mourn, since they will be comforted. Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth. Happy are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, since they will be filled. Happy are the merciful, since they will be shown mercy. Happy are the pure in heart, since they will see God. Happy are the peaceable, since they will be called sons of God. Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness sake, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them. Happy are YOU when people reproach YOU and persecute YOU and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against YOU for my sake. Rejoice and leap for joy, since YOUR reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to YOU. Matthew 5:14-16 YOU are the light of the world. A city cannot be hid when situated upon a mountain. People light a lamp and set it, not under the measuring basket, but upon the lampstand, and it shines upon all those in the house. Likewise let YOUR light shine before men, that they may see YOUR fine works and give glory to YOUR Father who is in the heavens. Matthew 5:27-30 YOU heard that it was said, You must not commit adultery. But I say to YOU that everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If, now, that right eye of yours is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you. For it is more beneficial to you for one of your members to be lost to you than for your whole body to be pitched into Gehenna. Also, if your right hand is making you stumble, cut it off and throw it away from you. For it is more beneficial to you for one of your members to be lost than for your whole body to land in Gehenna. Matthew 6:19-21 Stop storing up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break in and steal. Rather, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:25-32 On this account I say to YOU: Stop being anxious about YOUR souls as to what YOU will eat or what YOU will drink, or about YOUR bodies as to what YOU will wear. Does not the soul mean more than food and the body than clothing? Observe intently the birds of heaven, because they do not sow seed or reap or gather into storehouses; still YOUR heavenly Father feeds them. Are YOU not worth more than they are? Who of YOU by being anxious can add one cubit to his life span? Also, on the matter of clothing, why are YOU anxious? Take a lesson from the lilies of the field, how they are growing; they do not toil, nor do they spin; but I say to YOU that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these. If, now, God thus clothes the vegetation of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much rather clothe YOU, YOU with little faith? So never be anxious and say, What are we to eat? or, What are we to drink? or, What are we to put on? For all these are the things the nations are eagerly pursuing. For YOUR heavenly Father knows YOU need all these things.
Matthew 6:33,34 Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to YOU. So, never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Sufficient for each day is its own badness. Matthew 7:7-11 Keep on asking, and it will be given YOU; keep on seeking, and YOU will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to YOU. For everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened. Indeed, who is the man among YOU whom his son asks for bread - he will not hand him a stone, will he? Or, perhaps, he will ask for a fish - he will not hand him a serpent, will he? Therefore, if YOU, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to YOUR children, how much more so will YOUR Father who is in the heavens give good things to those asking him? Matthew 7:13,14 Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it. Matthew 10:28 And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in fear of him that can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Matthew 10:29-31 Do not two sparrows sell for a coin of small value? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without YOUR Fathers knowledge. But the very hairs of YOUR head are all numbered. Therefore have no fear: YOU are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all YOU who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh YOU. Take my yoke upon YOU and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and YOU will find refreshment for YOUR souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light. Matt 12:34 - For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Matthew 19:3-6 Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on every sort of ground? In reply he said: Did YOU not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh? So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together let no man put apart. Matthew 22:37-39 You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this, You must love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 24:13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. Matthew 26:41 Keep on the watch and pray continually, that YOU may not enter into temptation. The spirit, of course, is eager, but the flesh is weak. Luke 6:45
A good man brings forth good out of the good treasure of his heart, but a wicked man brings forth what is wicked out of his wicked treasure; for out of the hearts abundance his mouth speaks. Luke 11:9-13 Keep on asking, and it will be given YOU; keep on seeking, and YOU will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to YOU. For everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking it will be opened. Indeed, which father is there among YOU who, if his son asks for a fish, will perhaps hand him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he also asks for an egg, will hand him a scorpion? Therefore, if YOU, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to YOUR children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit to those asking him! Luke 11:27,28 Happy is the womb that carried you and the breasts that you sucked! But he said: No, rather, Happy are those hearing the word of God and keeping it! Luke 16:10 The person faithful in what is least is faithful also in much, and the person unrighteous in what is least is unrighteous also in much. Luke 21:19 By endurance on YOUR part YOU will acquire YOUR souls. Luke 21:28 But as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift YOUR heads up, because YOUR deliverance is getting near. Luke 21:34-36 But pay attention to yourselves that YOUR hearts never become weighed down with overeating and heavy drinking and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day be instantly upon YOU as a snare. For it will come in upon all those dwelling upon the face of all the earth. Keep awake, then, all the time making supplication that YOU may succeed in escaping all these things that are destined to occur, and in standing before the Son of man. Romans 7:19-25 For the good that I wish I do not do, but the bad that I do not wish is what I practice. If, now, what I do not wish is what I do, the one working it out is no longer I, but the sin dwelling in me. I find, then, this law in my case: that when I wish to do what is right, what is bad is present with me. I really delight in the law of God according to the man I am within, but I behold in my members another law warring against the law of my mind and leading me captive to sins law that is in my members. Miserable man that I am! Who will rescue me from the body undergoing this death? Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So, then, with my mind I myself am a slave to Gods law, but with my flesh to sins law. Romans 11:33-35 O the depth of Gods riches and wisdom and knowledge! How unsearchable his judgments are and past tracing out his ways are! For who has come to know Jehovahs mind, or who has become his counselor? Or, Who has first given to him, so that it must be repaid to him? Romans 12:2 And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making YOUR mind over, that YOU may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:11,12 Be aglow with the spirit. Slave for Jehovah. Rejoice in the hope. Endure under tribulation. Persevere in prayer.
Romans 12:17-19 Return evil for evil to no one. Provide fine things in the sight of all men. If possible, as far as it depends upon YOU, be peaceable with all men. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says Jehovah. Romans 15:4 For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put the wise men to shame; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put the strong things to shame; and God chose the ignoble things of the world and the things looked down upon, the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are, in order that no flesh might boast in the sight of God. 1 Corinthians 3:5-9 What, then, is Apollos? Yes, what is Paul? Ministers through whom YOU became believers, even as the Lord granted each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God kept making it grow; so that neither is he that plants anything nor is he that waters, but God who makes it grow. Now he that plants and he that waters are one, but each person will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are Gods fellow workers. YOU people are Gods field under cultivation, Gods building. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 Now if anyone builds on the foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood materials, hay, stubble, each ones work will become manifest, for the day will show it up, because it will be revealed by means of fire; and the fire itself will prove what sort of work each ones is. If anyones work that he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward; if anyones work is burned up, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved; yet, if so, it will be as through fire. 1 Corinthians 9:27 but I pummel my body and lead it as a slave, that, after I have preached to others, I myself should not become disapproved somehow. 1 Corinthians 10:12,13 Consequently let him that thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall. No temptation has taken YOU except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let YOU be tempted beyond what YOU can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for YOU to be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether YOU are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for Gods glory. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 15:58 Consequently, my beloved brothers, become steadfast, unmovable, always having plenty to do in the work of the Lord, knowing that YOUR labor is not in vain in connection with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not give up, but even if the man we are outside is wasting away, certainly the man we are inside is being renewed from day to day. For though the tribulation is momentary and light, it works out for us a glory that is of more and more surpassing weight and is everlasting; while we keep our eyes, not on the things seen, but on the things unseen. For the things seen are temporary, but the things unseen are everlasting. 2 Corinthians 9:6 he that sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and he that sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Corinthians 10:4,5 For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but powerful by God for overturning strongly entrenched things. For we are overturning reasonings and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God; and we are bringing every thought into captivity to make it obedient to the Christ; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 Therefore, that I might not feel overly exalted, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, an angel of Satan, to keep slapping me, that I might not be overly exalted. In this behalf I three times entreated the Lord that it might depart from me; and yet he really said to me: My undeserved kindness is sufficient for you; for my power is being made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather boast as respects my weaknesses, that the power of the Christ may like a tent remain over me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in cases of need, in persecutions and difficulties, for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am powerful. Galatians 5:22,23 On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Galatians 6:7 Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap. Ephesians 4:26,27 Be wrathful, and yet do not sin; let the sun not set with YOU in a provoked state, neither allow place for the Devil. Ephesians 4:29 Let a rotten saying not proceed out of YOUR mouth, but whatever saying is good for building up as the need may be, that it may impart what is favorable to the hearers. Ephesians 5:15-17 So keep strict watch that how YOU walk is not as unwise but as wise persons, buying out the opportune time for yourselves, because the days are wicked. On this account cease becoming unreasonable, but go on perceiving what the will of Jehovah is. Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, continue loving YOUR wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and delivered up himself for it, Ephesians 6:11-18
Put on the complete suit of armor from God that YOU may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil; because we have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places. On this account take up the complete suit of armor from God, that YOU may be able to resist in the wicked day and, after YOU have done all things thoroughly, to stand firm. Stand firm, therefore, with YOUR loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, and with YOUR feet shod with the equipment of the good news of peace. Above all things, take up the large shield of faith, with which YOU will be able to quench all the wicked ones burning missiles. Also, accept the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, that is, Gods word, while with every form of prayer and supplication YOU carry on prayer on every occasion in spirit. Philippians 4:6,7 Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let YOUR petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard YOUR hearts and YOUR mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:8,9 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things. The things that YOU learned as well as accepted and heard and saw in connection with me, practice these; and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:13 For all things I have the strength by virtue of him who imparts power to me. Colossians 3:2 Keep YOUR minds fixed on the things above, not on the things upon the earth. Colossians 3:5-10 Deaden, therefore, YOUR body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of those things the wrath of God is coming. In those very things YOU, too, once walked when YOU used to live in them. But now really put them all away from YOU, wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of YOUR mouth. Do not be lying to one another. Strip off the old personality with its practices, and clothe yourselves with the new personality, which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it, Colossians 3:12-14 Accordingly, as Gods chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, mildness, and long-suffering. Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Even as Jehovah freely forgave YOU, so do YOU also. But, besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union. Colossians 3:15 Also, let the peace of the Christ control in YOUR hearts, 1 Timothy 1:11 according to the glorious good news of the happy God, 1 Timothy 4:15,16
Ponder over these things; be absorbed in them, that your advancement may be manifest to all persons. Pay constant attention to yourself and to your teaching. Stay by these things, for by doing this you will save both yourself and those who listen to you. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us not a spirit of cowardice, but that of power and of love and of soundness of mind. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and their marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:13 And there is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting. Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous so as to forget YOUR work and the love YOU showed for his name, in that YOU have ministered to the holy ones and continue ministering. Hebrews 10:38,39 But my righteous one will live by reason of faith, and, if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. Now we are not the sort that shrink back to destruction, but the sort that have faith to the preserving alive of the soul. Hebrews 11:6 Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please him well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him. Hebrews 12:1,2 So, then, because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus. Hebrews 13:18 Carry on prayer for us, for we trust we have an honest conscience, as we wish to conduct ourselves honestly in all things. James 1:2-4 Consider it all joy, my brothers, when YOU meet with various trials, knowing as YOU do that this tested quality of YOUR faith works out endurance. But let endurance have its work complete, that YOU may be complete and sound in all respects, not lacking in anything. James 1:13-15 When under trial, let no one say: I am being tried by God. For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect present is from above, for it comes down from the Father of the celestial lights, and with him there is not a variation of the turning of the shadow. James 1:19 Know this, my beloved brothers. Every man must be swift about hearing, slow about speaking, slow about wrath;
James 1:22-25 However, become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves with false reasoning. For if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, this one is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, and off he goes and immediately forgets what sort of man he is. But he who peers into the perfect law that belongs to freedom and who persists in it, this man, because he has become, not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, will be happy in his doing it. James 2:26 Indeed, as the body without spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. James 3:5-10 So, too, the tongue is a little member and yet makes great brags. Look! How little a fire it takes to set so great a woodland on fire! Well, the tongue is a fire. The tongue is constituted a world of unrighteousness among our members, for it spots up all the body and sets the wheel of natural life aflame and it is set aflame by Gehenna. For every species of wild beast as well as bird and creeping thing and sea creature is to be tamed and has been tamed by humankind. But the tongue, not one of mankind can get it tamed. An unruly injurious thing, it is full of death-dealing poison. With it we bless Jehovah, even the Father, and yet with it we curse men who have come into existence in the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first of all chaste, then peaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, not making partial distinctions, not hypocritical. 1 Peter 3:7 YOU husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since YOU are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for YOUR prayers not to be hindered. 1 Peter 4:7,8 But the end of all things has drawn close. Be sound in mind, therefore, and be vigilant with a view to prayers. Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 5:6,7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt YOU in due time; while YOU throw all YOUR anxiety upon him, because he cares for YOU. 1 Peter 5:8,9 Keep YOUR senses, be watchful. YOUR adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour someone. But take YOUR stand against him, solid in the faith, knowing that the same things in the way of sufferings are being accomplished in the entire association of YOUR brothers in the world. 1 Peter 5:10 But, after YOU have suffered a little while, the God of all undeserved kindness, who called YOU to his everlasting glory in union with Christ, will himself finish YOUR training, he will make YOU firm, he will make YOU strong. 2 Peter 1:5-8 Yes, for this very reason, by YOUR contributing in response all earnest effort, supply to YOUR faith virtue, to YOUR virtue knowledge, to YOUR knowledge self-control, to YOUR self-control endurance, to YOUR
endurance godly devotion, to YOUR godly devotion brotherly affection, to YOUR brotherly affection love. For if these things exist in YOU and overflow, they will prevent YOU from being either inactive or unfruitful regarding the accurate knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:15-17 Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world - the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of ones means of life - does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever. 1 John 4:8 He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love throws fear outside, because fear exercises a restraint. Indeed, he that is under fear has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:20 If anyone makes the statement: I love God, and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot be loving God, whom he has not seen. Revelation 4:11 You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.
