AUTO CAD

 How to setup paper and Unit for drawings?


Ans. There are 3 ways of doing this…..
 1st Method
 Type STARTUP in command line. Hit ENTER on keyboard.
 Change the default value from 0 to 1 then ENTER
 Go to file Menu bar Open NEW Click on USE A WIZARD Advance Setup OK Select the Measurement unit(say Decimal)
Click on NEXT four times until you get Paper size option(Provide Paper size) Click on FINISH Z (For ZOOM) A (For All)…

 2nd Method
 Type LIMITS Specify Lower Left Corner of the paper say 0,0 Specify Upper Right Corner of the paper say 210,297 (for A4 size)
Z (For ZOOM) A (For All)…
 3rd Method
 Type –DWGUNITS From the list Provide the respective number for required Unit of Measurement for Length (say 1 for Inches)
Choose the Display Unit Format as per requirement (say 4 for Architectural) Provide Precision as required (say 0 for 1”)
 How to setup Unit for drawings ?
Ans. There are 3 ways of doing this…..
Go to FORMAT Menu Bar Click on Units Choose Length Type, Precision, Unit to scale Inserted content.

 How get Tool Bars into Workspace?
Ans. Go to Tools Menu Bar Select Toolbars AUTO-CAD Go on selecting tools as per requirement.
 Necessary Tool Bars for both 2D & 3D?
Ans. Draw, Layer, Modify, Modeling, Properties, Render, Solid Editing, Standard, Style, Text, UCS-II, View, Visual Style, Work space,
Zoom.
 Snap Tools…..
ORTHO: - To have Straight Orthogonal lines. You can’t have inclined lines unless until you have some pre-defined points.
OSNAP: - To have points like End points, Midpoints, Tangent points etc.
OTRACK: - To have a virtual line for reference.

 Snap Tools Icon/By Names


Right click on any snap tool Uncheck USE Icons to have Snap Names

 Snap Tools Points :
To have Snap points Right click on any of the snap tool Go to settings… Under Object Snap Tab put check marks desired points.

Even after putting check marks on respective snap point as above if any snap point is not showing then do the following…….
Right click on drawing area Go to options Under Drafting Tab Under Auto Snap Marker Size (Resize the marker) to have all snap
points…

 How to change the display color i.e. the background color of drawing area ?
Right click on drawing area Go to options Under Display tab click on colors option In Interface background choose desired color.

 How to change the Interface into Auto CAD Classic Model & save the desired user interface with required tool bars ?
Get all the required tool bars as described above From Workspace setting click on Auto-CAD classic to have classic view…..
To save the Interface with required tool bar as per user requirements…..
Go to Workspace setting Click on save current as Provide any name to save the interface…..
How to have Workspace setting…… Go to Tools Menu bar Select Workspace & do as prescribed…
OR
Go to Bottom Ribbon bar Click on Workspace Switching as in fig……..
Go to Top Ribbon bar Click on Workspace Switching as in fig……..

DRAW TOOL BAR

 Draw Tools from Draw Tool bar or From Draw Menu Bar or From Commands.
-: LINE :-
Steps
From Draw tool bar select line OR From Draw Menu bar select Line OR Type on command line “L”
Line Specify first point {Provide any co-ordinate value say 10, 20 } OR Click any point as desired….
Line Specify Next point {Provide any co-ordinate value say 50, 20 } OR Click any point as desired length…
Go on clicking on different points to create multiple lines as per corresponding length OR Provide respective co-ordinates.

Notes : Enable Ortho Mode to have Orthogonal lines, Without Ortho you can draw inclined lines.. [F8 for Ortho Mode]
How to Inclined lines with specific length and angle value.
L for Line Specify a point Type on command line @ Length < Angle e.g. @100<45
Notes : Angle always calculated in Anti clock wise direction….

-: CONSTRUCTION LINE :-
It has infinite length, normally used in projection works such as to draw elevation from plan.
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Construction line OR From Draw Menu bar select XLine OR Type on command line “XL”
Specify a point.
Specify through point either in vertical, horizontal or any inclined point.

-: POLY LINE :-
One can draw normal linear line along with arc to have different shapes…
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Poly line OR From Draw Menu bar select Polyline OR Type on command line “PL”
Specify the 1st point Select Arc or Width or Length as required Follow the steps as directed in command line.
-: POLYGON :-
One can draw Polygon with required number of sides.

Steps
From Draw tool bar select Polygon OR From Draw Menu bar select Polygon OR Type on command line “POL”
Specify number of sides Specify center of Polygon Enter an option of Inscribed (With in a circle) Or Circumscribed
(Touching the periphery of the circle) Specify radius to the circle
-: RECTANGLE :-
One can draw Rectangle with defined Dimensions, Area and Rotation as well. Chamfer, Fillet and many more can be done.
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Rectangle OR From Draw Menu bar select Rectangle OR Type on command line “REC”
Specify 1st corner point (Can do Chamfer, Fillet...)
Specify Next Corner point OR Area or Dimension or Rotation

Area : A Dimension : D Rotation : R


Specify area Specify Length Specify Rotation Angle
Specify Length or width by selecting the same. Specify Width Rectangle will be created in rotate way.
-: ARC :-
Many methods are there to draw Arc ….
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Arc OR From Draw Menu bar select Arc OR Type on command line “A”
Go to Menu bar and select arc to have more methods to draw an Arc.
Follow the command steps for each individual method..

-: CIRCLE :-
Many methods are there to draw Circle like 3P, 2P, TTR, TTT …. {T for Tangent, P for Point, R for Radius.}
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Circle OR From Draw Menu bar select Circle OR Type on command line “C”
Go to Menu bar and select Circle to have more methods to draw Circle and follow the steps in command line..
-: REVISION CLOUD :-
Used Highlight some specific area or text within a cloud shape.
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Revision Cloud OR From Draw Menu bar select Revision Cloud OR Type on command line “REVC”

Select “Arc length” option for cloud shape. OR When you want to convert an object to Revision cloud. Style option is used for styling.
Provide Minimum length of arc Select on Object Option Select Normal/Calligraphy. Then

Provide Maximum length of arc Select an Object created beforehand.
Object will be converted into Revision Cloud.
Specify start point by mouse then go on moving the mouse to have Revision Cloud of any shape.
-: SPLINE :-
Used to draw freehand smooth lines.
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Spline OR From Draw Menu bar select Spline OR Type on command line “SPL”
Specify 1st point Click anywhere in drawing area by mouse or provide some coordinate point.
Then go on clicking on different points to have Spline

-: ELLIPSE :-
Used to draw Elliptical shapes
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Ellipse OR From Draw Menu bar select Ellipse OR Type on command line “EL”

Select CENTER option. (You can give a center & two radius) Click on ARC option (Have to give a complete dia in one axis)
Specify a Center point. Specify 1 st end point.
Specify 1st radius i.e the 1st end point. Specify 2 nd end point i.e full length of any one axis.
Specify 2nd radius i.e the 2nd end point. Then specify other point of another axis.
-: ELLIPSE ARC :-
Used to draw Arc of Elliptical shapes.
Steps
From Draw tool bar select Ellipse Arc OR From Draw Menu bar select Ellipse then Arc.
Draw an Ellipse as prescribed above.
Specify start angle for Arc OR With the help of mouse click.
Specify End angle for Arc OR With the help of mouse click.

-: BLOCK :-
Used to convert multiple items into single item. In Auto CAD two types of Block are there 1.Block and 2.Wblock.
WBLOCK-Used to create a separate new file with Block with different file name.
Steps

From Draw tool bar select BLOCK OR From Draw Menu bar
select Block then click on MAKE OR B
From Block definition popup menu Provide a name for
Block Click on Pick point option to make a block point
anywhere
Click on Select object option and select the entire multiple
objects to get in a single Block Ok.

-: INSERT BLOCK :-
This option is used to insert blocks that you have created in a file for multiple times in different locations.
Steps
I
Click on Browse option select the required block name.
Keep the check mark on Specify On-screen option to locate
the block in
Required position via mouse. Then click on OK.

How to Edit Blocks ?


Double click on the Block created then Ok A new window will appear only with that Block, go for changes you want for block
Click on Close Block Editor option Click on Save changes to X………Here X is your Block name.
-: WBLOCK :-
WBLOCK-Used to create a separate new file with Block with different file name.Fullform

From Write Block popup menu Select Object option
Select the object Click here to change the file name
File location and Units if required. Ok

-: HATCH :-
Hatching is done to fill the covered area with some particular pattern, color as per requirement.
From Draw Menu bar click on Hatch OR From Draw tool bar click on Hatch OR H
From this Hatch popup menu Click on Add Pick Points
option and click inside the boundary of the body (When
boundary is confined.) OR click on Add select objects
option when boundary of object is not confined. Then select
the boundary i.e upon the object. From pattern and
color option choose the desired one Click on Preview (It
will show the Hatch part if good then if not click ESC.
Change scale to adjust the Hatch and go for any required
change of pattern then
Until you are not satisfied with the Hatch click ESC and
Preview to get best Hatch then finally

MODIFY TOOL BAR

[ Erase ]
Erase tool is used to erase i.e to delete the selected items as per requirement.
From Modify Menu bar click on Erase OR From Modify tool bar click on Erase OR E
Select the object
OR To simply delete the object just select the object then press delete from keyboard.
[ Copy ]
Copy tool is used to make duplicates of selected items as per requirement.
From Modify Menu bar click on Copy OR From Modify tool bar click on Copy OR CO or CP
Select the object
Specify a base point from which point you want your selected object to be copied. Normally base point should be the
common point between the source place and the destination place.
Then click on respective point where you want copy, you can also provide co-ordinates points.
[ Move ]
Move tool is used to displace the selected items as per requirement.
From Modify Menu bar click on Move OR From Modify tool bar click on Move OR M
Select the object
Specify a base point from which point you want your selected object to be Moved. Normally base point should be the
common point between the source place and the destination place.
Then click on respective displacement point where you want to Move, you can also provide co-ordinates points.
[ Mirror ]

Mirror tool is used to create a mirror object from the selected source items as per requirement.
From Modify Menu bar click on Mirror OR From Modify tool bar click on Mirror OR MI
Select the object (Source Object)
Click on 1st and 2nd point Mirror line with desired orientation.
Type Y to Erase the source object or N to keep both the source and
mirrored object after the mirror is done.
Then

You may or may not create mirror line as required.


Properties of Mirror :- You can inclined or Liner Mirror line as you want (Watch out the ORTHO mode) .The distance of
the Mirrored object from the mirror line same the distance of source object from mirror line.
[ Offset ]
Offset tool is used to create object with parallel distance apart, these objects are the copied one of the source
object but with size of increasing or in decreasing manner.
From Modify Menu bar click on Offset OR From Modify tool bar click on Offset OR O
Specify offset distance or [Through/Erase/Layer] <Through>:
[You can provide the offset distance then or Through is an
arbitrary distance, Erase means it will delete the source object after
offset, Layer is offset. Choose any as required ]
Then select the object.
Specify point on side to offset or [Exit/Multiple/Undo] <Exit>:
Click on the desired side of the object i.e inside or outside the object
will get offset.
Multiple is used when offset distance is constant for all the object to
be created then click on multiple before clicking on any side of the
object.[It helps you to create multiple offset with a single command.
[ Array ]
Array tool is used to create object in a tabular form i.e with column and row {RECTANGUALR } OR create the
copies of the object in a radial manner around a particular center point { RADIAL }OR Copping the object along a path with
specification { PATH }. Array is of 3 types 1.Rectangular Array. 2. Poalr Array. 3. Path Array
From Modify Menu bar click on Array OR From Modify tool bar click on Array OR AR
Select the object.
Enter array type [Rectangular/PAth/POlar]
Rectangular Array : Select Rectangle option.
Select grip to edit array or [ASsociative/Base
point/COUnt/Spacing/COLumns/Rows/Levels/eXit]
Click on respective option & proceed as directed, like Columns,
Rows, Spacing etc.
Path Array : Select Path option.
Select the path e.g Spline in the fig. given is the path.
Select grip to edit array or [ASsociative/Method/Base

point/Tangent direction/Items/Rows/Levels/Align items/Z
direction/eXit]

Select the required option to make a complete Path Array.


Polar Array : Select Polar option :
Specify center point of array or [Base point/Axis of rotation]: Click on the Base point around which rotation of objects will be
done.
Select grip to edit array or [ASsociative/Base point/Items/Angle between/Fill angle/ROWs/Levels/ROTate items/eXit]: Click on
Items to create number of object around source,Angle between option helps in maintaining Angular gap among objects,Fill
angle helps in setting the angle amount you want to fill i.s 360 full circle of 270 or 180 anything as required.
Just click and adjust.
