10 Filipino Inventions and Inventors

One chip Video camera- invented by Marc J. Loinaz

A Ho-hum materials from a personal computer was the beginning of one-chip video camera created by
the team of Loinaz at Lucent Technologies. It is small, a size of cigarette lighter, low power and cheap and can
be integrated into everything from wristwatches to cars.

Solar Window - Invented by Carvey Ehren Maigue

Maigue explains that the AuReus solar panels can be applied to windows or
facades as a fluorescent covering. this strategy would transform any building into a
performative generator or vertical solar farm, capturing uv rays which bouce off of
pavements and the surrounding buildings thus, maximizing the amount of energy
generated. maigue has not yet revealed just how much power this technology
produces.

. Locally-Developed COVID-19 Test Kits- Invented by Dr Raul Destura's team

Just before the COVID-19 lockdowns were
imposed, the name Dr Raul Destura was all over social media. He
and his team from the University of the Philippines National
Institutes of Health (UP-NIH) have created a low-cost COVID-19
rRT-PCR Detection Kit. The kits received the approval of the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last 3 April 2020. This
means that these kits are allowed to be utilised for commercial use.

4. The AGAPAY project by Dr Nilo Bugtai's team

The team of biomedical engineers from De La Salle

University (DLSU), led by Dr Nilo Bugtai, has created AGAPAY,
a robotic exoskeleton prototype with a biofeedback mechanism for
rehabilitation of post-stroke and injured patients by assisting motor
movements in the shoulder, arm, and hand.

??. Ginhawa Ventilator - Invented by Dr Abundio Balgos' team

A research team consisting of pulmonologists and biomedical engineers,
led by Dr Abundio Balgos of UP Manila, developed GINHAWA, a low-cost,
compact, and effective ventilator that both adults and children can use safely.
This project has the potential to help many patients who are severely ill due to
COVID-19.
GINHAWA, which features an embedded software protocol for self-diagnosis
and patient data analytics, costs 42 per cent cheaper than similar portable
ventilators intended for use in ICUs, emergency rooms and ambulances.
??. Pili Seal - Invented by Mark Kennedy Bantugo

This new material is a sustainable sealant for aircraft

integral fuel tanks to prevent fuel leakages. Unlike
commercially available aviation sealants, Pili Seal is made
from waste material particularly the waste of Pili Tree Resin
which is otherwise known as “spent resin” or “de-oiled resin”.

7. Water-powered car - Invented by Daniel Dingel

Water-powered car Daniel Dingelstarted working on a

water-powered car and prototype in 1969. His hydrogen
reactor uses electricity from a 12-volt car battery to
transform ordinary tap water with salt into deuterium
oxide or heavy water. Dingel’s car has never been
patented and commercialized because of what he suspects
as an anti- Dingel car conspiracy by multinational oil
companie.

8. Artificial coral reefs - invented by Angel Alcala

Artificial Coral Reefs Angel Alcala is behind the invention

of artificial coral reefs used for fisheries in Southeast Asia.

9. Super Kalan - Invented by Narciso Mosuela

The Superkalan is a stove that can be powered by any substance
that burns. Narciso Mosuela of the Filipino province of La Union
invented it and received the Best Design award from the Food and
Agricultural Organization (FAO) in 1987.

10. Almeda Sr. Known as the "Father of Filipino Inventors

Almeda Sr. invented the rice grinder, meat grinder, and coconut grater. Add to that the ice shaver, waffle
cooker, barbecue cooker, hot dog griller and portable toaster. Almeda Sr. designed his inventions mainly for use
by the fast-food industry and sandwich stands, thereby further improving the food industry in terms of
processing food much quicker and easier.
