Script of Group 2 – Go Green Weekend (for 10 minutes):

Dũng: Good morning, everyone! Welcome to our group’s presentations! We are

glad to see all of you here. Here are our group’s members you can see on the
screen. Today we are going to have a presentation and our topic today is OUR
ENVIRONMENT. So, first of all, what is Environment, is it a place that we are
living in? Or just a natural thing that we can’t tough? Well Environment is the
surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
Nhật: But our environment is being polluted by a lot of polluted factors.
Environmental pollution makes a lot of bad effects on our life. it harms
human health and other living animals with green plants. Environmental
pollution is also mainly caused by human activities. We have planned a list of
what to do to help the environment be greener. In this presentation, we will
show you some activities that can improve the environment, make people's
health better and reduce the effect on nature.
Thịnh: But what makes environment polluted. There are two main reasons that
make our planet not green and fresh like it was before and that are human activities
in daily life and natural factors.Now let come with me to see what are the human
activities.
Đăng: So all of you know that the development of science and technology is the
main reason in human activities for the convenience of life today, people can call
each other from a far distance. However, this has a bad effect on our environment.
The air is polluted by fumes released from cars, and motorbikes because many
harmful gases from our transports are released into the environment causing
climate change. And there are more factors that we can’t list!
Quang: And now, let’s go to the second factor and that is polluting from the
environment, it is called natural factors. Unlike pollution made by humans, this
factor does not have any impact from human hands. It occurs naturally and
unpredictably due to soil movement and some other natural conditions such as
temperature, and humidity, for example: Erupting volcano generate a lot of toxicity
and affect the respiration of human and animal; Earthquakes, Storms, floods and a
lot of other factors damage buildings, and houses! So, the question is “How to
reduce environmental pollution?
Hoàng: We can do lots of activities to reduce environment, for example: Using
public transports, Turn off the lights when not in use, use of fans instead of air
conditioners, use banana leaves instead of plastic bags, eat more organic food, use
electric at least at you can, tell your younger sisters or brothers about nature and
the environment, …
Duy: Well, planting trees is also one of the activities that help improve the
environment. So do you know where to plant trees in a city with lots of houses and
many buildings like in Da Lat or in Sai Gon? Except for the small potted plants
because there are only a few trees and my idea is that we will plant trees in some
places have few trees.
Thắng: In some forest which have few trees may be because loggers cutting
down the trees, The tree fell because of the strong wind and the storm that
cause cacant land, bare hill. And the result of this is it lack of oxygen, will
rapidly increase toxic substances for the environment so activity of plant tree
has a lot of good effect to the environment.
Trung: Planting more trees in preventing environmental pollution is created fresh
shade for people to avoid the sun, rest after a long time going on the street, regulate
the environment, reduce the greenhouse effect, and make the atmosphere cooler
because trees help reduce carbon dioxide in the air and produce oxygen for us to
breath, keep the soil against erosion and narrow down the area of land, prevent
dust to make the air cleaner and more if we continue helping environment not be
polluted afterward.
Khôi: Plastic bags are also the contaminant makes the environment more polluted
which account for 8 to 12 percent of total waste. Plastic is an artificial material that
takes a long period to decompose for more than 1000 years. Plastic bags have
many bad effects on the environment because it make our Earth more dirty and it
can kills all living creatures in the world.
Minh: To avoid these we use the 3R method. So, do anyone know what is 3R
means? ( Invite somebody!) Thank you that’s right. 3R are reduce, reuse and
recycle. Reducing is to make something less or smaller in size, quantity, and price,
and that helps a lot like turn off electric machine appliance when not in use,
redcuce using single use plastic and use sustainable that good for the environment
like paper, etc. Reusing is we can use something that cause polluted to our Earth
for many times. Recycling is we can use our things that not in use to make
ornaments in our house and we can make it into some items that we can use in our
life to make our planet more green – fresh - cleaner.We can reuse old closthes by
remake them to pet shirt, bags, baskets. With paper core to make toy and recycle
waste to decorate our house.
Khang: We need to work together to protect the environment. We need to protect
the environment from the smallest actions in our daily life, going to school, going
to work, or going on a holiday such as picking up litter, disposing of the garbage at
the right place, and cleaning up the workplace. Each person contributes a small
effort but it is enough to improve the current environmental situation. And we will
have a healthier and cleaner living environment.
