INTRODUCTION

This reflection essay is given for student to make sure the understanding of the
subject that we have learned especially in Principles and Practice of Management
(MGT420). Applying process in the real life for what I want to do also one of the
things that reflection essay will discuss and explain in details.

1. What you have learned?

According to my study in Principles and Practice of Management for these 7

weeks, I have learned what an organization do to achieve in providing goods and
services that customers value and desire. In achieving a goal, it will start with
managers and then workers that will planning, organizing, leading and controlling for
the effectiveness and efficiently process. Other than that, I am also can know about
the workers or even leadership behavior. That behavior will surely can affected the
organization process and also can lead to the successful company. For the workers
behavior, there are a lot of methods that leaders can use to make sure they are
motivated and enjoying with their works.

2. What are the take away?

I have learned a lot from this subject that can be apply in a lot of situations.
For example, once we in any organization, we need to understand about the vision and
mission of the organization. After we know the goals and the main objective, we will
get focus on that to achieve every single goal and can will accomplish each tasks
perfectly. In other, one day we also can get the chances to be a manager or the first
line of the departments, by studying management I can having the managerial skills
that have been the high demand in this day. In the managerial skills, from the first
steps of the organization will be planned until the finish process. Furthermore, I also
can increase the knowledge about the theory of the managing process. The usually use
is theory X and Theory Y that tells the assumptions about workers’ attitudes and
behavior.

3. What are the skill acquired from this subject?

Moreover, some of the skills that I acquired from this subject are the types of
planning, the true method in decision making and how to designing organizational
structure. Planning is the most important process that need to complete properly
before start any business and activity that will affect the whole process. Planning and
strategy really related to each other, there are three steps in planning that I have learn,
the first one is determining the organization’s mission and goals, second one is
formulation the strategy and the last one is implementing the strategy. As well as
decision making also have been taught in Principles and Practice of Management.
Decision making was divided into two types that is programmed and nonprogrammed,
in our real life we will use these two types of decision making. Programmed is the
decision making that have been the routine that we will expected, while
nonprogrammed is the decision making that unexpected and need the fast responses.
By that type, I can know the way if having any problems and need to make any
decision as fast as possible. And last but not least, the skill that have been required is
designing organizational structure, before designing the organization structure, there
are several factors that will affecting the designing process such as organizational
environment, technology, strategy and human recourses.

4. Will you be using this skill in future?

All of the skills that have been acquired in this subject was very meaningful to
me and of course will be useful for my real life and my future. Management is the
subject that very related to our life and it will become the most useful subject that
have been learnt in this degree life. It just not will be used in the future, but for now it
already can be applied. For example, I was got into a club association that is need the
proper planning in organizing programs and the way to communicate with others that
have a lot of behavior. Other than that, in my group tasks of assignment also can use
certain of management skills.

5. What are the benefits that you acquired from this subject?

There are a lot of benefits that I acquired from this subject, for the first one is
my life became more orderly than before instead of learning the strategy and the
planning in management subject. Some of the skills in this subject can be applied in
my daily life such as steps of the decision making and the planning process. This
subject also taught me how the best way to be a leader or manager, it will be a
beneficial thing to me when I need to handle the grouping tasks as a representative. I
feel more confident in accomplish works after studying this subject. Other than that,
benefits that I acquired from this subject is understand why some of company doing
something that I looks just give more benefits on individual, for example in giving
training to employees. In my perspective before study this subject, I think that
company just give the more opportunities on individual to their employees with the
high costs, but after study this subject I aware that is one of the methods of the
company to improve the performance and the quality of services or products.

6. What do you like best about this subject?

I like best about this subject is about the detail discussion about the leadership.
As we know leadership is the main point in the successful organization or company.
In this topic also I have to complete my individual assignment that is need to find one
of the contemporary leaders, so my choice is Jack Ma that is very famous with his
excellent leadership traits and behavior. He not just focuses on the money but also
helping other people in his life and he focused on new generations that will grow then
conduct the world. From the story of Jack Ma, I am being more motivated as student
and struggle more in my life. If I not study in this subject, I will not know the journey
of the Jack Ma’s background. Moreover, in the topic of leadership also give me the
understanding about the traits, behavior and also the leadership style that used by the
leader. From that also, I can take some advantages to having a good relationship
between workers and managers.

7. Any suggestion for improvement for this subject?

In my humble opinion, I am suggesting to increase the exercises in the e-book

so students can be more understand about the topics. Other than that, lecturer also can
provide fun activity that also can increase the understand of the topic, for example
like Quizizz, Kahoot! or the same concept like that, from that activity students will be
more enjoy in this subject and can simply understand. Furthermore, another
suggestion is I will more prefer if having the book instead of e-book, because when
have the book in my hand, I can use it at any times and also can truly study without
gadgets. Studying with gadgets have a lot of interferences such as the notification
from the social media and other that can influence me to another things.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I really love study in this subject that have a lot of skills and
benefits for my daily life and especially in future. I can understand with the lecturer’s
explanation that giving the examples and the real situation. Alhamdulillah hopefully I
can get pass this subject in excellent. Thankyou for my lecturer that is Miss Rosnalina
Abdul Rahman that give the perfect lecture and help me to understand more about the
chapter with the tutorial question and the question that always be given randomly in
class. This subject is very related to my daily life and easily apply in my routine in life.
