The Space Between
The Space Between
Or was it truly, nonsense? Regardless, he could care less about those words and the card on
the ground. Like, who would even want to pick up such a card on the ground, especially during
the middle of the night? Who knows where the card had been and what was on it. Perhaps this
was just paranoia, however, curiosity and the idea of leaving such a card on the ground
bothered him.
Picking up the card from the ground, and frowning at the address, he scoffed.
“My, oh my…someone like this within the night. Is this simply coincidence, or fate?” He smiled,
the edges of their mouths curved upwards, and he pocketed the card within their pocket.
“I’ll have to tell my dear mistress that a new job has come up. Well, it will possibly be a long
while before I do come back…” He sighed, turning down the music. “I do hope he won’t replace
an asset like myself…” A quick turn into a dark alley, and the humming of an old tune that he
had once heard long ago.
[BCU]IC FORM
[IC]You went to the address listed on the card. A small cabin on a high hill with an old
abandoned castle in the distance. Creaking open the door a hooded figure greets you, dawning
strange robes.
[BC]"Firstly, What is Your Name, Age And Pronouns Dear Person Of Hope?"
So straight to the point…what a chore. He sighed and got on with it. A gleam of deceit, or
perhaps something else. Another tick, another tock. Ah, a person of hope, it did spell some sort
of…hope for this talk.
“My name, let’s just go with…Rei. Is that acceptable? Hm, well, I am of age, and I don’t care as
to how you would like to refer to me as.” He smirked as he crossed his legs and leaned a bit
back in the chair. Whatever this was, he sure did drop the card…so, the more the merrier as to
why such an experiment would require someone like them.
A thought crossed their mind as he closed their eyes. “Oh, well, then. You probably won’t even
know if I’m lying about my own information! Rest assured, most of what I’m saying is the truth…”
Then again, what if their words were wrong? As he opened his eyes again, he glanced at the
hooded figure. Dreadful, and boring, the many words that crossed their mind. An exhale, and
the resuming of the scene. It was all a part of a play, after all.
[C]
[BC]"What Is Your Bringer Of Hope?, Your All Important title or more simply your ultimate?"
“I am a shareholder. There is nothing more to it.” These questions were always the usual of the
lot. Technically, their job…well, he would leave their job to someone else’s imagination. Nothing
in this world was more important than such a title. That was for others, but for themself, he
stayed silent.
“Bringer of hope…what a sick joke.” He murmured under his breath and scoffed at the hooded
figure. Crossing their arms, he started tapping the ground beneath them with his right foot. Their
irritation was beginning to seep through, despite it just being his second question.
[C]
“I was good at what I was already doing. Is that not how most, if not many of us attain such a
role?” It was said quite loftly, as he looked off into space. Perhaps it was in the space between.
Was it? No.
“If only my sister was there to congratulate me…then I would’ve been happier…” He feigned
sadness and sniffled.
A.
He sniffled and briefly wiped the corners of his eyes before refocusing on the scene at hand.
[C]
[BC]"Do you like your title? Or perhaps would you trade it for another? If so what one?"
“Well, that is quite the question.” A hum, and the drumming of fingers on the table. Leaning a bit
on the table, he uncrossed their legs.
“I am purely. Indifferent. Heart emoji, xoxo.” He leaned back in the chair and looked at the
ceiling blearily, yawning aloud before leaning back forward. The slam of their feet on the ground
and the thud of his fists against the table.
“I’ve got it now~ A true answer! You see, I, maybe, I should be a spy. A spy…” A snicker
bubbled from their throat before exploding into clear laughter. “A spy! Just like my big sister. If I
could be a spy like her, perhaps I would be able to understand her a bit better!” he clapped their
hands and tilted their head towards the hooded figure. As if he were waiting or watching for it to
move or say something in response. Then again, since there was no audible or visible reaction,
he decided to put it all away.
[C]
[BC]"If you were to die now would you be sent to Heaven or hell?
“Ho, well, if I vaguely recall from over the sound of ‘Material Girl’, you did mention the ‘void’.” He
pondered aloud as he recalled the…aforementioned ‘meeting’ within the dark. Ah..that day, such
fond memories to relive! He snorted and crossed his arms again.
“Hmm, well, I do not care either way. Are humans truly predestined to enter only heaven or hell?
Or is there a possibility for another option?” There wasn’t much to think or say about the current
questions, as he could only really think about giving the other a brief or snarky answer. Then
again, if this interaction came back to bite him in the ass…he would welcome it and then
complain. What a drag…he sighed and wondered when this ‘interrogation’ would be over. Does
heaven and hell even exist? Perhaps he would meet his fate upon answering such questions.
[C]
There was a brief pause, before he cackled in his chair as he looked down on the hooded
figure.
“Sure! Why the fuck not?” He threw his hands up in the air as he wheezed and clapped them
together. A space between? Or a space within the in between? Ah yes, so very much so. He
wondered if this was all a joke, but that thought was brief as it passed by. So why not entertain
this kind of ideal? If it changed or brought him any kind of luck or something new…there wasn’t
much counting on that thought, or theory.
“The space between…I, for once, believe in the space between my thighs very much.” A wink
was thrown towards the hooded figure as he shifted around in his seat. Why not live a little and
see where things go!?
[C]
“Same, same, what’s the difference?” At this moment, Rei did not care, he did not give many
shits, or fucks in this world as to a direct answer to this question. He groaned internally as his
mind buzzed away, slaving on other thoughts and ideas that weighed more on his mind.
[C]
“I wonder, are you the one in the right mind?” Rei tossed the line towards the figure, not
expecting an answer. He wouldn’t receive a retort or anything else back, so what was the harm
in saying whatever he wanted anyways.
[C]
Oh? Something different. Quite. Different indeed…it was a bit polarizing and sudden to hear a
question like that among the other…rather boring ones.
“I do find old things, and the forgotten things quite fascinating…” He had added the word
"forgotten" as a bit of an afterthought. No, moreso a much more conscious one. Old things
tended to be forgotten and unknown to many. So, it was always a pleasure to explore old
architecture or find or look into the past.
[C]
[ICU]You went quiet for a moment before the figure told you something
[IC]"The castle. Tomorrow"
[C]they ushered you away faster than the ladt time and you went on with your last Normal day
“Oh dearie me…" He sighed as he was ushered away and sniffled quietly. Whether it was a
sniffle on purpose or that of another intent…one may never know!

[BC]Roleplay Reference?
Then there it was. Her eyes widened as she spotted the flash of white and she saw the glimmer
of yellow. It couldn’t be. Shaking her head, she moved on, but…she could feel her tension
racking up. There were too many thoughts, a thought that she could not rid.
The fog was already sinking into her own bones, the words that she had once trusted, that
ended up sinking through her bones. They bound her like iron wrought chains from once long
ago. So she ran. She ran and huddled up in the corner of a small alleyway. What else could she
do other than this? There was a flower that bloomed in the ground. A wild flower that was
cultivated, and grown to become stronger. Was it wrong for it to wilt when times grew harder? If
the stars could glimmer in the sky, there would be no clouds. All these meaningless thoughts
just made her feel even more riled up. She shouldn’t have to stay down like this! She needed to
confront her time and time again. Because that was just how it was. Mezu would always chase
after her, trying to ‘help’ her, and so would Hizashi. All the people who were never there before,
and she wondered if things would be different if she had never met them. However, it just felt
inevitable, it felt hopeless as she laid down on a piece of flattened cardboard. The sky was gray
and cloudy again, and it seemed like they were rumbling off in the distance. The gray and white
that tumbled and embraced together…it all seemed and felt endless. The buildings that towered
around her resonated like iron bars that sought to block out any view humanity would have for
the sky.
If time could wash away any meaning in the moment, surely it would’ve by now.
So she opened her eyes again and rose from the cardboard. The junk that piled around, the
garbage that stank of filth, rotten eggs, expired milk, burnt charcoal, and the like. She embraced
it all as she inhaled the air and slunk out of the alley. Everything was all but a reminder of the
power she had maintained within the territory. There was nothing she couldn’t get her hands on,
but she simply chose to maintain the peace that was still living within the hopes and dreams of
all. The hopes of leaving the lower areas to the higher classes, and the children that prayed for
a better day everyday.
And so, she grabbed the arm of the white haired person. Someone who she had never seen
before, but perhaps she had caught a glimpse of him sleeping the day before. It mattered not
now, as she spun him around to face her. The scarred face, but intense orangish red eyes
imbued with sharp yellow colors that glared into his face.
“Hey pretty boy, why don’t you come with me so that we can talk for a while?” Her grip was
strong, but firm, as if she was holding back her true strength. She had dull reddish hair that
stuck up in different directions, and she had a distinct smell of sea water mixed with that of
smoke? People around them moved on as normal as she looked at him, and awaited for an
answer, even if it seemed as if she wasn’t going to wait for one.
