Welcome to the Installation procedure of RobotStudio

RobotStudio System Requirements

Before you install RobotStudio, make sure your system conforms to the following
requirements:

Software
■ RobotStudio requires:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4 or higher or,
Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 or higher.

■ We recommend you to un-install any previous version of RobotStudio, RobotStudio


Lite, ProgramMaker, QuickTeach or WebWare.

Recommended hardware
■ CPU: Pentium III or higher
■ Memory: 512 MB RAM or more
■ Free disk-space: 500+ MB on system disk
250+ MB on installation disk
■ Graphics card: A high performance graphics
card with OpenGL support.

Examples for stationary PC:s

Quadro4 900 XGL, ATI Fire GL 8800.

Examples for laptops:

How to Install RobotStudio and request the license key
The installation procedure consists of three steps:
1. Installation of the software
2. Requesting your license key
3. Registration of your license key

To install RobotStudio, follow these steps:


1. Log on with a user account, which has local Administrator rights.
2. The installation program will guide you through the installation procedure. At the end
of these instructions you will find a link to start the installation (the installation can also
be started by double-clicking on Setup.exe file in the robotstudio folder of the CD).
3. When prompted you can decide where your RobotStudio folder should be located.
4. At the end of the installation you will be asked to fill in the License Key Request form
required for obtaining the RobotStudio license.

NOTE The length of the folder path must not exceed 31 characters.

How to Request your License Key
To run RobotStudio, you will need a license key, which is a password provided by ABB. You
can start using RobotStudio before receiving your license key, as it is possible to run the
software for a seven-day period without a license.
5. At the end of the installation a license Key Request Form will start.
6. You can also start the form manually from the Windows task bar.
Click Start>Programs>ABB Automation>System Information. Click the
Products tab and select RobotStudio in the Installed products box.
Then click the Request License Key for RobotStudio button to start the
Request form.

7. The wizard will guide you through the RobotStudio License Key Request Form.

8. In the next windows you will enter information about your company, system, robot
etc. You also need to enter the Product Reference No. found on your product CD.
Enter the information in the windows and press Next to continue to the next page.

9. At the end of the form, save the registration information on your hard disk or on a
floppy.

10. You can also attach the saved registration information file to an email and send it to:
[email protected]
Alternatively, print the file and send it by fax to: ABB +46 31 773 85 40. By email and
fax it will take a few days before your request has been processed.

How to Register your License Key


When you receive your license key, you need to authorize the computer on which you
installed RobotStudio by registering the license key.

To register your license key, follow these steps:


1. In the Windows taskbar click the Start button.
2. Click Programs>ABB Automation >System Information.

3. Click the Licenses tab and click the Import Licenses from file...
button. Browse to the license key file, click Open and then OK to exit
the System Information dialogue.

Click the Add License string button and copy or type your license key into the box
and click OK. Click OK again to exit the System Information dialogue.

4. You can now start using RobotStudio.
