Final Examination in Advanced Stat

1. The document contains the final examination for a graduate statistics course. It includes 7 questions covering topics like ANOVA, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, chi-square, correlation, and interpreting results from tables. 2. The first question asks students to use ANOVA to analyze bowling scores of 6 players in 4 groups to see if there is unusual variation among the groups. 3. The last question asks students to interpret results from 4 tables, including looking at reading fluency levels before an intervention, relationships between work values and performance goals, leadership styles with challenges in remote learning, and a respondent profile by civil status.

FINAL EXAMINATION (First Sem., 2022-2023, Shift 1)
EDUC.200 – Advanced Statistics

Name: __________________________________________ Rating:_________________________________

Professor/Instructor: ______________________________ Date:__________________________________

General Instructions: Answer the following clearly and as cleanly as possible. Show all pertinent solutions.

GOOD L U C K …..
1. Solve by ANOVA:
Below are the bowling scores of 6 players each. At 5% level of significance, find out if
there is unusual variation among the four groups.
Players Group A Group B Group C Group D
A 98 100 87 90
B 78 95 92 93
C 95 90 105 95
D 110 85 88 97
E 88 89 77 83
F 98 93 77 89

2. Given the following table,

Classes f
104 – 234 11
235 – 365 10
366 – 496 6
497 – 627 4
628 – 758 2
759 – 889 2
890 – 1020 1
Compute for: mean, median, mode, quartile 1, quartile 3, decile 3, decile 7, percentile 45,
percentile 68, percentile 79, mean absolute deviation and standard deviation

3. It is known from the records of the city schools that the standard deviation of mathematics test
scores on the XYZ test is 5. A sample of 200 pupils were taken and it was found that the sample
mean score is 75. Previous tests showed the population mean to be 70. Is it safe to conclude that
the sample is significantly different from the population?

4. Test the hypothesis that 80% of mathematics graduates end up teaching. Out of 300
mathematics graduates, 50 ended up teaching, while the rest did not. Use an alpha error of 0.01

5. Solve by chi-square:
A total of 175 out of 300 graduates from a government-owned school were hired for
employment right after graduation while the rest are not hired immediately. From a private school,
140 out of the 200 graduates were hired immediately after graduation for employment. Does the
employment depend on the type of school graduated from? Use 5% level of significance.
6. It is generally known that the number of road accidents is inversely proportional to the road
width. The following data shows the result of a study indicating the number of accidents
occurring per meters road width.
Road width: 75 52 60 33 22 38 64
Number of accidents 40 84 55 92 90 88 80
Find the correlation coefficient and interpret your result. Predict the number of accidents for a
road whose width is 63? 85? 87?

7. Given the following table, discuss the result.
