Users Guide 1.1 Access Rights and Configuration
1 Overview
The installation of the Replay & Realtime Monitoring System may only be carried out by a user with NT
Administrator rights. After the installation it is necessary to set user rights for using the system.
Therefore set the needed rights for the replay folder (default: C:\Program Files\Replay).
The detailed system requirements may be found in the chapter Installation.
To replay a dataset start the application VDR Data Replay and choose the option File -> Open in the
main menu bar. Afterwards a new window VDR Archive will be open.
VDR Archive displayes the downloaded datasets and offers the possibility for dataset management.
Choose the wanted dataset by a double-click or press the open button. Then select the replay period and
confirm by clicking the Apply button, the dataset will then be loaded for replay.
On the left hand side of the VDR Data Replay screen there are tabs containing different information. The
actual number and contents of these tabs depend on the equipment onboard the vessel. The following
data may be presented throughout the replay period.
• Machinery operating parameters e.g. power, revolutions, rudder angles

2.5 Dongle Driver Setup Users Guide
In order to use the Electronic Sea Chart (ECS) after the eval-
uation period has finished, normally it is necessary to install
the dongle.
In special cases it is possible to work without a dongle, therefore another Hardware solution is available.
Otherwise there are two types of dongles available; one for the parallel port and one for the USB port.
Attach the dongle, delivered with the Replay System, to the corresponding port on your PC before start
the installation. Selecting ECS Dongle Driver on the installation menu to start the setup.
For interacting with the VDR (e.g. download data) for the replay pc it is necessary to be in the same
network. Sometimes therefore the network settings of the replay pc have to be changed. Open the

The VDR Archive is a dataset management application, which allows to archive, edit, import and export
different datasets. For starting the VDR Archive double-click the shortcut on the desktop.
First of all it is necessary to get a dataset, therefore are two options to get data. First option is to down-
load this data from a VDR, FRM or a Removable Volume. The second option is to import data from a
backup file (*.bck file).
If there are datasets in the list available, it is possible to archive these datasets. Furthermore it is also
possible to delete these datasets. To protect a dataset from being overwritten, it can be archived in the
local archive by checking the according checkbox, marked in the figure below.
The local archive is located under the installation path of the Replay System. If the data is not archived,
it will only remain available until it is overwritten by new data loaded from the VDR.
Datasets that have been archived already have a checked Archived checkbox. Archived datasets can
be removed from the local archive by un-checking the checkbox to mark it for overwriting. Or by choosing
Delete from the file or popup menu to remove it immediately.

found in folder C:\Program Files\ReplaySystem\adir2.
Note: The path C:\Program Files\ ReplaySystem is the default path for installation. It can be changed
during installation procedure.
In this case the downloaded data can be found in the directory <Replay path>\adir#
Furthermore there are different transfer options, which are activated or deactivated by using the option
Extras in the main menu bar.
For loading data which needs a separate authorisation, it is necessary to authorise with a transaction
number (TAN). Use the TAN option in the main menu bar and choose the option Use TAN. A new
window opens.
In the window below you enter the
TAN Number and confirm with the
Apply button. Then the data is
unlocked for a special period. Within
this period the data can be down-
loaded arbitrary. It is not necessary to
re-authorise in this time-frame.
Each TAN can only be used once. There are a TAN list of 10 TAN numbers available.

Users Guide 4.4 VDR Alarm Logger
The new version of VDR Alarm Logger is part of the actual package from version 3.9.1. It is also suitable
with older VDR generations.
The new VDR Alarm Logger is also available for different operating systems. The replay installation
package is only for Windows usable. But if the alarm logger should be used as stand alone application,
it is also usable for Linux/Ubuntu or MAC OS X. Please ask for corresponding versions.
This application shows the actual alarm state and the VDR Logfile. Alarms, reset alarms and warnings
are displayed at VDR log coloredly.
The VDR Alarm Logger needs an online connection to VDR to get the alarm information directly from the
VDR. It works with the default VDR IP address 192.168.95.205.
If the VDR works with another IP address, the
QLogger.exe can be started with the command line
parameter "-ip=x.x.x.x", if the PC is for the VDR
network configured.
The command line parameter can be added in the
properties of the desktop icon of alarm logger.
To get the on the right side shown property window,
the right mouse button has to be pressed over the
desktop icon of alarm logger.
Then in the context menu the menu item Properties
has to be selected.
