The Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) was established in June 1998.
The objective was to give need based demand driven technical training to enhance
government noble endower of poverty alleviation. For this purpose PVTC has
developed curricula for various courses to cope with the growing demand of
industrial, agriculture, medical and services sector, keeping in view the modern
technology.
Basic health facilities and family planning is the important issue and need of day.
The population explosion is affecting financial resources in one hand and health
problems in the other. So the training in the health sector is vital for creating
cautiousness in public. That is why “Clinical Assistant” course is being introduced
by the PVTC.

PROGRAMME
The Clinical Assistant provides day-to-day staff, logistical, and administrative assistance
to a medical clinic, hospital unit, or clinical trials program. Triages patients and schedules
appointments; screens and refers phone calls, and communicates and interacts with
patients; provides clerical and staff support to the unit, and assists with clinical and/or
laboratory procedures as required.

2. Records maintenance skills.
3. Ability to perform basic patient assessments and referrals.
4. Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
5. Knowledge of supplies, facilities, equipment, and/or services ordering and
inventory control.
6. Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation.
7. Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
8. Receptionist skills.
9. Ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone, often in
stressful situations.
10. Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
11. Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
12. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
13. Elementary structure of human body and function of its various organs and
systems.
