Test II- Essay
1. Read Section 5 of RA 10533, the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 on which philosophies of education is the
K to 12 curriculum anchored? Depend your answer. (10 points)
Answer:
Section 5 of RA 10533, the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 is anchored to Constructivism,
Progressivism, and Reconstructionism. Reconstructionism: The philosophy of social reconstructionism stresses
the discussion of social issues and the pursuit of a better society. From a 10-year basic education to a 12-year
plan, the K-12 goals emphasize social reform. Perennialism, Essentialism, Progressivism, and Reconstructionism
are four different schools of thought. These educational ideologies place a strong emphasis on WHAT we should
teach, or curriculum.

2. Given the chance to make some changes in our curriculum to address the present need, what changes in our
curriculum would you introduce and why? (10 Points)

Answer: If I had the chance to alter something about our curriculum to better meet current demands, I
would make the mother tongue-based subject more of a language than a subject. It should not be used
as a medium of instruction in other subjects, particularly at the primary level. After numerous years of
teaching the subject in the mother tongue, some unfavorable effects have appeared, like poor reading
comprehension, reading issues, language hurdles, a decline in English proficiency, etc.

3. What are the consequences of the absence of a teacher’s lack of a clear philosophy of education? (5 points)

Answer:
The subjects or concepts that are taught, how they are taught, and, perhaps more importantly, the guiding ideas
and ethical standards that are taught both inside and outside of the core curriculum, can all be affected by an
educational philosophy. A teacher without a clearly defined educational philosophy may not have the essential u
nderlying knowledge to benefit students. You can aid the learner by opening up opportunities and experiences f
or the development of potential skills as a teacher and role model for your students. The life of a child depends
on you. Without a good teaching philosophy, a teacher cannot effectively and efficiently educate students.
