HOW TO MAKE A PERFECT WORD DOCUMENT

The concepts explained bellow can be applied to any kind of word processors programs.
However, in this practice the stages are described for the computer program Microsoft WORD.

When you work in a document, first of all focus on the text, the content. After that you will
change the format (the aesthetic) of it.

After choose the correct font, size and colors for the document do the next steps.
JUSTIFY THE PARAGRAPHS

1 Justify a paragraph means to align it to both sides so each line


occupies exactly the page width.

Select the whole document (CTRL+E), go to incio, click on


paragraph, and last click on (justificar).

HEADER, FOOTER AND PAGE NUMBERS

2 Headers and footers make possible having a common division on


the top or on the bottom of the pages respectively.

In addition, it is very important to have all the pages of the


document numbered.

Menu Insert->Encabezado/Pie de página/Nº de página.


You can write your Name and surname, your class and class
number, the name of the School, insert the school’s logo, the
title of the document, the year… choose the most suitable for
your document.

CONTENT INDEX AND PICTURES INDEX
If our documents have several sections, it is very useful making an
index so we can find the information very quickly.

CONTENT INDEX:
1. Select one of the main documents’ titles (sections,
chapters…). Apply the design Título1 (Inicio->Estilos).
2. If you want you can change the appearance (size, color, etc.).
If you do it, having the title selected, click with the right
bottom of the mouse in “Título1” y and select “Actualizar
Título1 para que coincida con la selección”.
3. Apply the same style to all the main titles of the document.
4. Repeat the same actions with all the secondary tittles
(subsections, subchapters…) but with style Título2/Título3….
5. And last but not least, click in the document where you will
want to locate the index. Click on Referencias->Tabla de
contenido and select one of the automatic options.

ILUSTRATIONS INDEX:
1. Insert pictures in your document.
2. In every picture, do right click and select Insert title.
3. Write a title after the number of the illustration.
4. Finally locate the cursor after the contect index, go to
Referenciass->Insertar Tabla de Ilustraciones and clik accecpt.

COVER
Every good document has a very stylish cover. If you do not
consider yourself very creative, WORD has nice templates ready
to use.

Go to Insertar->Portada and choose the design you like the most.

SPELLING & GRAMMAR REVIEW
Nowadays, every Word processor programs have a spelling and

grammar function, so handing in a document with errors shoud not be


acceptable.

Click on Revisar->Ortografía y gramática and review all the document.
