In Grade 9 TLE (Cookery)

I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to:
a.) Perform mise en place.
b.) Demonstrate understanding the knowledge and skills in preparing appetizer.
c.) Make canape observing sanitary practices in presenting the appetizer.
II. Learning Content:
a.) Topic: Preparing appetizer (canape’)
b.) Materials: PPT, Pictures, Balloons, Ingredients in making canape’
c.) Values Integration: Understanding and appreciating the role of appetizer in a
meal.
III. Procedure:
a.) Activity
1. Prayer
Jehovah our God, come with us today. Fill our hearts with joy and our minds with
learning. Fill our classroom with peace and our lessons with fun. Help and guide us
to know what’s right and what’s wrong. Be with us Jehovah God throughout the day.
This is what we pray in the name of your only begotten son Jesus, AMEN.
2. Classroom Management
The teacher greets the class then ask one student to lead the prayer. The teacher
checks the attendance and ask the student to arrange the chairs and sit properly and to
pick up pieces of paper if there are.
3. Motivation
The teacher gives fun activities to the students. The class will be divided in to two
groups. There will be balloons and inside the balloons will be letters from the word
puzzle. The students will pop the balloon by running to the chair in front and after
they finish collecting the letters from the balloon they need to arrange it to form the
missing word. The group who will finish it first will be the winner and will get the
reward.
4. Analysis
The teacher conducts another activity wherein they need to participate in identifying
the pictures shown.
5. Abstraction/Generalization
The teacher presents their topic by relating to their previous activities. The teacher
asks the students if they have tried preparing appetizers. Teacher will show examples
of canape’ and explain the topic clearly.
6. Application:
Teacher will let the students prepare their own recipe of canape’ appetizer practicing
mise en place and observing the safety and sanitary practices.
IV. Assessment
The teacher gives students assessment to measure their level of understanding.

own recipe of canape’. Their presentation will be evaluated afterwards.

Closure:
Teacher ask about their activity and the students takeaways about preparing canape’ appetizers.
V. Assignment
Teacher ask the students to write an essay about the importance of appetizer.
