Lesson Plan (English 7)

I. LEARNING COMPETENCY
Express appreciation for sensory images.

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. Point out the effective uses of imagery and sensory details;
b. Create a photo essay related to imagery; and
c. Express appreciation for sensory images through series of tasks.

B. Motivation

Task 1: Picture It!


The teacher will play a sound of sea waves on Youtube and let the students close their
eyes while imagining that they’re in a beach. After that, the teacher will ask chosen
students to share.

Directions: Play the sound of sea waves. Close your eyes for 1 minute and imagine
that you’re in a beach. What do you see, hear, and feel?
Activity
Task 2: Make Sense!
Directions: Find a partner. Use a dictionary and look up examples of sensory words.
Then place them in their correct category.

Analysis
The following questions will be raised for more discussions of the lessons.
1. What is sensory imagery?
2. What becomes of a person ‘s writing or speech when he/she has no
knowledge of imagery?
Abstraction
 The teacher will discuss about Sensory Imagery through a PowerPoint
Presentation.
 To make the lesson more interactive, the teacher will ask chosen students to
read what is written in the PowerPoint Presentation and provide a brief
explanation.
Application
Task 3: Photo Essay!
Each group will create an output that shows their understanding of the lesson.

Direction: The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be given a task to
make a photo essay based on the assigned pictures below. Make sure that you will
include vivid details that rely on every sense: touch, taste, smell, sound, and sight. You
will be given 20 mins to plan and create. Your output will be graded using the rubrics
below the given pictures.
