DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ARTS

I. Objectives

After the 40 minutes lesson in the subject of Art, the students expected to:

a. Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.


b. Appreciating the primary colors by mixing them to create secondary and tertiary
colors.
c. Create arts with the use of primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.

II. Content
Topic: Color
Reference: Enjoying MAPE, pp. 100-105.
Other Learner’s Material: Colors, bondpaper, and pencil.

III. Procedure

Good morning, teacher.
Please remain standing and let us pray.
(The teacher will call one student to lead
the prayer.)

Before you sit, please arrange your chairs
properly.
(The students will arrange their
chairs.)
Let’s check your attendance to know who
are absent today.
(The teacher will check the attendance of
students.)
Reviewing:
Let’s go back to what we discussed last week.
What did you draw?
We drew our house with the use of
different lines and shapes.
Okay. So, can you give the different lines and
shapes?
The two types of lines are straight
and curves lines and the example of
shapes are circle, triangle, rectangle,
and oblong.
Very Good!
You are now able to draw using lines and shapes.
Now, in order to make your drawing more creative,
We need to put another element of art on it. I will
show you some pictures.
ACTIVITY
Look properly in the picture and tell me what you
see in the picture. Understood kids?
Yes, Ma’am!
(The teacher will post the pictures in the black
board.)

(The students will look properly in


the pictures and starts to identify it.)
Can you now tell me what’s in the pictures?
You can raise your hand if you want to answer.

Ma’am, there are stars and books in
the pictures that have a different
colors.
Okay, very good!
So, what are the different colors of stars and
books in the pictures?
The stars are color green, violet,
blue, orange, yellow, and red. The
books are color yellow, green, red,
and blue.
Very Good!
ANALYSIS
So, do you know our topic today kids?
Yes, Ma’am. It is about colors.
Correct.
We always see colors everywhere. But
what do you think the world would look
like without colors?
Ma’am, the world would not be
beautiful.
Very good.
The colors that we see every day can have
a strong effect on our moods. It can make
our artwork and surroundings more beautiful.
Also, an artist can express his/her feelings
with the use of colors in his/her artworks.
Colors is one of the element of arts and it has
three types. The primary colors, secondary
colors, and the tertiary colors.
We will focus on these three types in our
lesson today. Understood kids?
Yes, Ma’am.
Now, I will show you a pictures with
primary colors, secondary colors and
tertiary colors.
(The teacher will post the pictures in the
blackboard.)
Look properly in the pictures and determine
the color placed here.

Based on the pictures, what are the three


primary colors?
The primary colors are red, yellow,
and blue.
Okay, correct.
Primary colors are red, yellow, and blue.
They cannot be created from other colors.
It is the basic colors that can be mixed
together to produce other colors.
So, now, what are you notice in the
secondary colors?
(The teacher will call a student to answer)
I noticed that when you add red and
yellow together, it will be an orange.
When you add yellow and blue, it
will be a green and when you add
blue and red, it will be a purple.
Correct, very good!
Secondary colors are green, orange, and violet.
Those are the color resulting from the mixing
of two primary colors.
How about the tertiary? What did you notice
about it?
(The teacher will call again a student to answer).
Ma’am, tertiary colors are like
secondary colors because based on
the pictures, red plus orange is red-
orange, yellow plus orange is
yellow-orange, yellow plus green is
yellow-green, blue plus green is
blue-green, blue plus purple is blue-
purple, and red plus purple is red-
purple.
Correct.
Tertiary colors are red-purple, red-orange,
yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, and
blue-purple. It is the combination of primary
and secondary colors.
Understood kids?
Yes, Ma’am.
ABSTRACTION
Kids, please remember the three types of
color and their meaning. The primary colors
is the basic colors that can be mixed together
to produce another color. The secondary colors,
on the other hand, are result from mixing two
primary colors. And lastly, the tertiary colors are
made by combining a secondary color with a
primary color. Did you get it students?
Yes, Ma’am
Now, let us do an activity in which you will mix
colors to create primary and secondary colors.
Exploring colors
What You Need
Crayon or oil pastel
What To Do
1. Use a crayon or an oil pastel to shade the boxes
below with the given colors.
2. Make sure to shade the box well with crayon or
pastel.
3. Overlap the colors completely. Do not leave white
spaces.
What colors came out from the overlapped spaces?
Identify the colors produced in the overlapped space
and its type.

Red Yellow Yellow Blue

Blue Green Red Purple

Red Orange

(The students will be able to mix the


colors and finish the activity
properly.)

Now, let’s do another activity.

APPLICATION
I will group you into three.
(The teacher will start to group the class.)
(The students will go to their
respective group.)
Now, that you are already in your respective
Group. We will do a simple art with the use
of colors. You will only have 8 minutes to
do this activity.
Instruction:
 The group one will do an art with the
use of primary colors.
 The group two will do an art with the
use of secondary colors.
 The group three will do an art with the
use of tertiary colors.
(The students will start to make their
simple art.)
Your eight minutes are up, please pass your
work.
(The students will pass their work.)
(The teacher will check it.)
