2. differentiate CRS and GDS;

3. explain the functionalities of CRS and GDS; and;

4. Identify the CDS/GDS used by local airlines.


Introduction
The use of IT applications and tools in the travel and tourism industry is very significant. As this
industry is big and is challenging, serving all types of passengers and travelers will be difficult to
manage without the right system that will help the organization provide the convenience their
clients deserve.

Airlines’s success, for instance, depends largely on its ability to intelligently manage sales,
marketing, and other business processes as well as its customer database.

CRS – a computer based reservation system. Used GDS – another computer based system reservation
by airlines and travel agents and hotels to store and system. Its network of providers brings products and

Identify the GDS/CRS used by local airlines.

Visit the website of all local airlines serving domestic and international flights. Check the content
of their website and familiarize how they communicate with their clients through it. Then, check
by calling them to know what kind of GDS are they using. If calling is not possible, you may also
check on GDS’ websites and check on their partner airlines in the Philippines.
