Common Laboratory Equipment in Instrumentation and Control
Common Laboratory Equipment in Instrumentation and Control
AND CONTROL
Oscilloscopes are used in the sciences, medicine, engineering, automotive and the
telecommunications industry. General-purpose instruments are used for maintenance of
electronic equipment and laboratory work. Special-purpose oscilloscopes may be used
to analyze an automotive ignition system or to display the waveform of the heartbeat as
an electrocardiogram, for instance.
2. Digital Multimeter
A digital multimeter is a test tool used to measure two or more electrical values—
principally voltage (volts), current (amps) and resistance (ohms). It is a standard
diagnostic tool for technicians in the electrical/electronic industries.
Digital multimeters long ago replaced needle-based analog meters due to their ability to
measure with greater accuracy, reliability and increased impedance. Fluke introduced its
first digital multimeter in 1977.
3. Function Generator
In particular it can be made to become a sine wave generator, square wave generator, and
triangular wave generator.
4. DC power supplies
Every lab needs mechanical hand tools to help with the basic tasks of cutting, twisting,
stripping, picking, etc. Precision mechanical hand tools such as wire cutters, wire
strippers, pliers, ESD-safe tweezers, and screwdrivers help with these tasks.
