Coordinating conjunctions

TASK 1
Complete the sentences using the coordinating conjunctions.
"and, but, or, for, nor, so"

TASK 2 Choose the correct conjunction.

4. Nobody expected Sam to get the job nor / so did I.

TASK 3
In the following sentences, determine whether or not a comma is needed before the
coordinating conjunction. Remember, a comma is only used when the conjunction is
connected to independent clauses. It is not used when joining two or more
words/phrases.

1. I ran to school so I didn’t arrive late.


2. Sam believed that having pets and having kids were the same thing.
3. She put on a sweater for it was cold outside.
4. Julie was tired from taking the kids to the zoo so she decided that it would be a
good idea to take a nap and watch Netflix after.
5. She thinks that soccer is fun to play and that baseball isn’t fun.

TASK 4
Fill in with the most appropriate FANBOYS.

The boy wanted to go to the park, _______ he had homework to do before he could

Use these seven subordinate conjunctions to combine sentences in each
question:
