Prince And we welcome you guys back to the COPREV show, your daily science craving
dosage provider. Together with me is Ebony. So Ebony, who are our guests today?
Ebony You know what prince, these people are truly amazing. Please welcome, Kassandra,
a head scientist, Zweetzel, a historian, and Angelika, also a historian.
K.Z.A. (Different greetings like, hello thank you for having us here today at your show, it’s
an honor.)
Prince So our topic for today is all about the Copernican Revolution. Who wants to start this
discussion?
Zweetzel So the Copernican revolution actually started with the geocentric theory that
believes that the earth is the center of the system and that everything revolves
around the earth. However, Nicolaus Copernicus debunked this theory as he stated
that the system is heliocentric, which means the center of the system is the sun and
the earth and everything in the system revolves around sun.
Angelika However, based on our further studies about this, Copernicus wasn’t the first person
who proposed that the system isn’t geocentric. There was a person named Nicole
Oresme (pronounced as oraym) who argued that the system was heliocentric 166
years before Copernicus, which in his book translated as the book of heaven and the
world in year 1377 was stated.
Kassandra In a very realistic sense, this theory of heliocentrism is actually not accepted as it was
an act of blasphemy because way back then, the church believes in the geocentrism.
Now in the modern era, the theory of Copernicus was widely accepted as one of the
most successful theories to be established that helped in astronomy and in science
itself.
Ebony That’s a very informative dialogue. Now Prince, this question is for you. How do you
think did the idea of heliocentrism changed or influenced the society and the world,
and did this idea of heliocentrism brought any progress?
Prince Well I believe that it really influenced the society and the world as we can see now
that before, the church was widely in the opposition side but now, most of us
supports the heliocentric theory. And it did brought a lot of progress knowing if it
isn’t for the heliocentric theory, a lot of astronomic anomalies would still haven’t
been answer causing another scientific revolution.
Ebony And with that we will take a little break, COPREV show will be right back.

Prince Welcome back to the COPREV show, we still have Kassandra, Zweetzel and Angelika
here as our guest. Now, at this point of time, we are going to listen to the lessons
that may have stemmed from the Copernican revolution.
Kassandra One important value that I was able to realize as we go through the Copernican
revolution is patience. We cannot expect for people to immediately support our
claims especially when these claims lack information and is hard for other people to
understand.
Zweetzel Also, we should be open-minded. Not everyone will accept our theories or claims as
it is. We must be open to new observations and ideas that make come up especially
when other discoverers are interested to our work.
Angelika Lastly, courage is also important. The people who supported heliocentrism was
courageous to share their theory to other people knowing that the people including
the church firmly believed in geocentric system.
Ebony The insights that each of you shared are very accurate. Before ending this session, I
would like to remind all those aspiring discoverers to believe in yourself.
Prince That’s right Ebony! No one knows what lies beneath the obstacles unless someone
tries to overcome it. Albert Einstein once said, “Only those you attempt the absurd
can achieve the impossible.” I am Prince,
Ebony I am Ebony and this is COPREV show, your daily science craving dosage provider. See
you on our next session. Goodbye!
