Answer: Because it costs money and inventory is capital tied up that could otherwise
be used to grow the business, so there are always pressure to keep inventory as low as
possible.

Answer: To manufacture their products, and to demonstrate them to customer.
3. What strategy enables them to keep low inventory?
Answer: They have the supplier deliver to their factories when demand is there.

4. What changed when Leica was taken over by Danaher?
