Reflect On The Film (Ganito Kami Noon, Pano Kayo Ngayon)

The film "Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?" depicts many of the same issues facing Filipino society today as in the past. The author felt like an "innocent bystander" in the face of society's real problems, going along with what others say instead of seeking their own identity. However, the ending message was that Filipinos should unite for progress, respect differences but move forward together, and honor the independence fought for by preserving culture, freedom, and helping fellow citizens.

Reflect on the film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?

”What emotions did you feel when you

watched it? Do you think we can return to that kind of society? What lessons have you learned from
that society? Reflect in no more than five (5) sentences.

On watching the film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?”, I am not surprised that we have the
same issues of then and now. It feels like we are still stuck with the same kind of society and all of us are
the Nicolas “Kulas” Ocampo of our generation which is an innocent one to what is the real dilemma of
our society, going with the flow to what others will say and dictate to us, and seeking for what should be
as a Filipino. As Kulas concluded the movie by realizing of what is being a Filipino, I learned that we
should be united for the betterment of all; that as a Filipino, our differences should not hinder of moving
forward to the greener pasture as one. We should honor and not waste what our fellow countrymen
had fought for us to gain our independence by preserving our own culture, protecting our freedom, and
to helping our fellow Filipino.
