history as well as the skills in playing
basketball.

springfield.In the Philippines it was
introduced by the
Americans.Basketball is played by
two teams, with five players inside
the court in each team,but a
traditional basketball team is
compose of twelve(12) players.

1. Shooting-is the first basic skill to


be learned.

Things to remember to improve


shooting skills in basketball.

a. Remember the BEEF (Balance,


Elbow, Elbow, follow through) when
shooting the ball.

b. Be relaxed and concentration

c. Know when you have a good


shot and then take it.

d. Be in proper balance when


shooting the ball.

e. Follow through on every shot

f. Jumped naturally

g. “Up hang shoot” is an easy way


to remember

h. Make sure you have an arc on


every shot you take.

i. Be relaxed when shooting free


throws.

j. Practice all of your shoots.

2. Dribbling-a skill that should be


mastered. This move involves
bouncing the ball off the floor with
your hands as you cover the floor.

3. Passing -It is the skills that


maximizes the involvement of all the
players in setting up a play to earn
successful shots and earned points
for the whole team.
Three types of passing:

a. Bounce pass

b. Chest pass

c. Overhead pass.

4. Rebounding- is one of the major


aspects of the game. It is your ability
to jump with power to gain
possession of the ball as it bounces
to the rim after failed shot before it
touches the floor.

*We have different steps in order to


make a good rebound.

a. practice good footwork and


verticalleap or jumps.

b. anticipate were the ball will land.

c.The longer the shot or the harder


the rim, the the farther the bounces.

d.When a shooter is a soft shooter,


this means he alwys takes time to
put an arc on his shots.the ball
bounces the ring.

e. When the shooter is a hard


shooter, this means thers a little or
no arc on his shots, then the ball
bounces far from the ring.

f. Leg power and strong body are


needed in rebounding that’s why it
is essential that strngth and power
exercise should be considered to
conditioning your body.

5.Running- is the one of the basic


skills that a basketball player should
possess, because speed defines the
best.Whether you’re on the
offensive or defensive side of the
game,passing, receiving, shooting or
rebounding a ball, you always have
to run in anyway possible.
