4. New terminology
Assets
Ships and other structures. LRCD recognises the following category of asset: ACV, buoy, floating
dock, linkspan, shiplift and vessel.
These describe adhoc or one-off tasks that need to be completed during a survey and can cover a
number of scenarios. Where a surveyor has identified some minor damage or non-compliance that
does not warrant a defect/condition of class or statutory deficiency/finding to be raised, an AI will
be
AI’s are also used to inform the surveyor of specific activities that need to be carried out in addition
to the standard survey tasks – for example where a flag requires a specific set of information on
issuing a certificate or where you have requested a specific action be taken by surveyors when
onboard the vessel.
AI’s will have a due data and will contribute to the overall due status of an asset in LRCD.
These are notes that convey information, but do not require any specific action. These may describe a
characteristic of the asset, a specific component or configuration or a contractual/administrative
condition that the asset must adhere to. These notes have no due date.
A collective name for ISM – International Safety Management Systems, ISPS - International Ship
and Port Security code and MLC – Maritime Labour Convention surveys. These surveys are
grouped together separately from the classification and statutory services also offered by LR.
Produced by the surveyor on completion of all requested services. This document acts as a
provisional survey report until the final survey report is issued by LR. A copy of this document plus
associated certificates is normally handed to you before the surveyor leaves the vessel. This
document is considered a summary of all the activity conducted by the attending surveyor.
The official and final survey report that is issued by LR following a surveyor attendance. In addition
to the list of services and reporting actions carried out by the attending surveyor that is listed in the
FAR, the FSR also includes all the reporting narrative and findings as documented by the attending
surveyor(s).
– Tasklist surveys – normally classification surveys – the tasklists articulate the LR Rules that
an asset must comply with to be classed. These are specific actions that a surveyor must
carry out when attending an asset and can cover examination and testing actions as well as
documenting readings.
– Non-tasklist surveys – these are surveys that have no tasks or checklist items listed.

7. Signing up
New LR Class Direct users must first apply for an LR account linked to a specific email address. This
account will allow access to LRCD and in future to other LR services or applications that you sign up to.
There is only ever one set of login details to remember for all LR applications/services. This form of
account supports an improved security model, protecting client sensitive data and allowing auditability
of account usage if needed.
Users sign up via the LR Account portal (accessed via the Class Direct homepage) after which an LRCD
administrator will carry out some checks and arrange access to your assets in LR Class Direct. You will be
assigned one of the following roles (confirmed in an email from LR), which will influence what you can see
in LRCD:
Client – asset owners, managers; will only have access to those assets associated with
their specific client code
Flag – users associated with a flag administration; will only access assets registered with that flag
Exhibition of Records – a limited access account to allow another 3rd party to view an
asset’s details. Access to a vessel or set of vessels normally expires after two months.
Note – registering your email address does not automatically grant access to LRCD – if you attempt to log in
before the LRCD administrator has set up your permissions, you will see an “unauthorised access” message.
You will be able to see your fleet/sub-fleet. If favourites have been selected, they will form the initial view (and
can be de-selected in the filter)
LR internal users will only be provided with the search box, unless they have selected favourites.
Clicking on the vessel’s IMO number takes you to the “Asset Hub”, the main point of access for an
asset’s information.
Clicking on a vessel’s name will take you to the survey planner for that asset.
8.2. How the information bar at the top of the page works
Please Note: Wherever you are in the application, clicking on your organisation name will return you to your
landing page/fleet summary.
Click on your name and select ‘log out’ from the page which opens.
Please note – LRCD stores cookies about your session and search results. If another LRCD user logs into
LRCD on the same machine, the cookies from your session will apply to theirs – for example they may get
prompted with some of your search terms.
Our recommendation is to either using incognito/private browsing for LRCD or delete the cookies/clear
the cache after each session.
1. Log into the application and click on your name in the top right hand corner of the landing
page (Fig.3). This will open your user profile;
2. To change your profile information click on the “Edit Profile” link in the personal details panel;
3. To change your password click on the update password link in the account settings panel;
You can edit the details you submitted as part of your registration request. All information with the exception
of the email address you are using to access your LRCD account is editable.
The name you see in LRCD can be edited using the “Edit profile” link. If there is information you do not wish to
share or want to remove, please either leave the field blank or type in “n/a” for any mandatory fields that hold
your information.
Should you have any queries about LR’s Data Privacy Policy and how we store or use your data, please see
this page https://www.lr.org/en/privacy-notice/
If you are only responsible for a subset of your organisation’s fleet, please mark them as Favourites on
the Fleet List page and then set up notifications using the “Favourites” option. If you need oversight of
your entire fleet, then please select the “subfleet” option. Then you will get notifications for all vessels
you have access to – not just your Favourites
In the event your account is not used for 15 months, the system will automatically disable your access. If you
attempt to log in, you will be presented with an “unauthorised access message”. Should you want to
reactivate your account, please contact the LR Class Direct support team on [email protected] for assistance.
If your account has not been used in 37 months, then the system will delete all your user details and you will
need to reregister again on the portal.
This is to ensure we do not retain any personal data that you may have entered if it appears to no longer be
relevant or supports a Legitimate Interest.
LR’s fleet view for a particular user is defined by their role and the association of a specific asset (vessel) to a
Flag Authority or technical owner (Registered Owner, Ship Manager, Technical Manager, DOC Company) per
the asset’s IMO registration on IHS Seaweb.

For those assets you are authorised to view
Note: to maintain performance of the card view, the system will load assets in groups of 16;
to load subsequent groups of assets simply scroll to the bottom of the page.
Flag administration and LR Internal users will see only the header bar and the filter, search
and sort functions (features 1 to 11 in Fig. 3) i.e. no assets. This is to ensure performance is
not degraded by loading too many assets in one cycle, or to burden you with assets in which
you have no interest.

The tabular format features expandable asset list “cards” as a table, allowing you to view the status of
each survey and the associated task or checklist.
The coloured discs indicate both the status and the date for each service, along with a number, indicating
how many services are due in that period. Clicking on each disk will expand it, showing all the services due.
The time period being viewed by selecting the two calendar icons either side of the timeline. As the dates
range is shortened, users can expect fewer services to be visible.
These can be accessed via the “Asset Hub” (click on the vessel’s IMO number in the fleet view)
12. ESP
Vessels which operate under Enhanced Survey Procedures (ESP) now have all the documents for the
compilation of the ESP Survey File in one place (ESP Report, Thickness Measurements, Executive Hull
Summary). These can be downloaded, as required, by selecting an appropriate survey under survey
history (accessible from the asset hub).
You can add any of your assets to a “favourites” list (fig. 8), which will then be loaded by default each time
you log in to LRCD. The list can be created, edited or disabled at any time and the application will work with
only these assets until the user makes further changes.
2. Click on the star icon in the top right corner of the card for each asset you wish to include in
your “Favourites” list; the icon will autofill when correctly selected.
3. Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen, and the assets will be saved to the
Favourites list
13.2. Filtering
LR Class Direct offers a number of asset filter
options as shown in fig. 9. Filtering can be applied
to either full or “favourites” lists.
The LR Class Direct administrators can, at the owners’ request, mark vessels within a users’ fleet
inaccessible. Basic information, sourced from IHS Seaweb will be available for such restricted assets,
although LR data regarding surveys, notes and actions etc. will not be available.
Note: assets may have an inactive request survey button. This can be for a number of reasons, the
most common being that the asset does not have a current active Marine In Service contract.
If this does not apply, please contact the Class Direct team or your client manager for assistance. You will
still be able to submit a request for survey via telephone/email.
Select the Services you wish to request, surveys that are Due or Overdue will be pre-selected.
Add additional services in the textbox such as miscellaneous services or CoCs. Then click Continue, this will take
you to stage 2 of the request workflow.
Complete all the details on page 2, then click ‘Continue’ to be taken the final stage of the survey request
workflow.
Note: The Country and Location data fields are a typeahead field with a dropdown selection. The best
practice is to enter a partial port name and select from the dropdown list. If this isn’t done, the ‘Continue’
button at the bottom of the page will not be activated.
11 Ship contact details Enter contact details for the ship if applicable
Confirm that details are accurate and don’t forget to tick acceptance of terms and conditions before clicking
‘Continue’.
An email will be sent to the appropriate LR office (A copy will also be sent to the user requesting the Survey)
who will be in touch to confirm very shortly.
First, select the assets from your fleet that you wish to export data for, you can select multiple:
Note: the above criteria will be pre-selected, but you can amend the criteria based on the
information you want on the report.
If you already have LR Class Direct access, the EOR may be added to your existing account. If you do not
have an existing Class Direct account, you will need to sign up by visiting and following
the procedures there. The owner will need to provide formal permission for the viewing and the viewing
party will need to fully complete a contract form, accepting LR’s contract terms.
EOR account users may not request a survey, subscribe to receive notifications or credit MPMS items, but
their access is otherwise similar to that of a standard client.
Assets that have been signed up for Machinery Planned Maintenance Scheme (MPMS) will, in the asset hub,
show a ‘Credit MPMS surveys’ button.
Selecting ‘Credit MPMS surveys’ will display the items and tasks available for crediting. The task list can be
refined by using the filter functions (dates, task status, task type) and the task status buttons. Selecting the
‘Surveyable items’ button will display the item names only, not the task descriptions and dates.
To submit a PMS date, select the ‘Task Submit Date’ button next to the task, and select the date from the date
picker, or enter a date in ‘dd mmm yyyy’ format.
Once you have selected the dates for all the tasks to be credited, click ‘Submit Report’ to submit them and a
confirmation message will be displayed on successful submission of the report.
Tasks submitted in the report will now display a ‘PMS date’. Note, the due date at this stage will not have
Lloyd’s Register LR Class Direct User Guide v1.6 Feb 22| 30
been updated but the corresponding task(s) in the CSM tasklist will have been updated.
Dates on the service schedule that have been inspected by clients through the MPMS function will have an (I)
next to the Assigned Date, indicating ‘Interim credit’.
This will prevent MPMS tasks and subsequently the asset’s overall status from showing overdue.
Figure 12: Corresponding tasks in CSM tasklist post report submission with new dates

Once a PMS date has been submitted, the date can no longer be changed. If a PMS date needs to be amended,
speak to the attending surveyor during the MPMS Annual Audit, or contact [email protected] to request the
amendment.
Tasks with a PMS date will be confirmed by the attending survey at the next MPMS Annual Audit. Once
confirmed, the item/task will be updated and will again be available for submitting a PMS date.
If a surveyor confirms the Interim MPMS task within 18 months of the inspection date, then the next instance
of the task will be rescheduled from the inspection date.
If a surveyor confirms the Interim MPMS task more than 18 months from the inspection date or indicates in
the system that they completed the task themselves at the time of survey, then the date of the surveyor’s
reported credit will be used to reschedule the task.
If items/tasks are missing from the MPMS crediting page, contact [email protected].
For client users nominated by their organisation to perform an LRCD administrative function, there is a new
role that can be requested which is the “Client Admin” role.
Users with this role will be able to access an Administration utility in LRCD. This utility will allow the following
accesses and permissions:
1) Visibility of all LRCD users associated with the organisation’s Company IMO Number
3) Ability to set fleet restrictions on individual accounts to hide portions of the fleet from individual users
4) Ability to restrict access to the Request a Survey function for individual users
5) Ability to export a report of all organisation users including their last login details
To apply for this role, please contact the LRCD Support team on [email protected]
Further functions around EOR management and new user creation are on the roadmap to enhance the Client
Admin role.
