COMPANY PROFILE

RGC Foam Group is today’s largest manufacturer of commercial and


automotive polyurethane foam products in the country. Through world-class
manufacturing practices and a strong culture of excellence, RGC Foam Group

PRODUCT DESIGN

Foam is the Uratex main product. In foam making, the Uratex


laboratory personnel develop formulations that result to certain types of

foam and also conduct tests to ensure that the formulation will meet final
product specifications that the customers are looking for. They have a
maximum of 15 years of warranty to their products. The foams are being
tested for hardness, flexibility, density and breathability. They also have a
technology that analyzes and matches the correct type of bed for each type
of individual. Also, there are Uratex foams that are fire retardant and testing
for this type of foams are also done at the R & D Laboratory.

PROCESS STRATEGY

Uratex uses a continuous mass production because they produce a


high volume of a few standardize products hence it lacks of variety. Uratex
has a Foam Research and Development and Process Engineering
Departments which are dedicated to continuously make use of the latest
innovations in foam and sleep. Uratex makes use of state-of-the-art
equipment and machinery. It collaborated with the Hennecke, one of the
most popular advanced machinery brands from Germany, to acquire the
Hennecke Multiflex machine that is used by the best foam manufacturers
globally. Its intelligent precision and process engineering enables to produce
high-grade foam. It has a high-pressure mixing system that injects chemicals
into the mixing chamber and sprays it on a large surface. Its chemical
process is placed at a laydown system to regulate air while it transforms into
a block. This results into a high-quality foam block free from pinholes and
defects.

FACILITY LAYOUT

Uratex’s facility layout exhibits a product-oriented layout because this


layout achieves a rapid flow of foams through the system. This is possible
because the production of foam is a highly standardize repetitive process.

Area. Uratex also have a showroom, this is where all the finished products of
Uratex and their subsidiaries are showcased.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Uratex is an ISO 9001:2008 awardee; it is an international standard


that guides to implement management processes to compete locally and
globally. It assures customers that the company had passed strict, regulatory
requirements for an effective Quality Management System. They also receive
a CertiPUR Certification; CertiPUR is a voluntary standard for the
environmental properties of mattress foam. It assures that the products are
safe for consumers and the environment as it is free from dyes, phthalate
plasticizers, heavy metals, & ozone depleters. Uratex has been awarded as
Reader’s Digest Platinum Trusted Brand for Mattresses for Household
Products Category. Reader’s Digest continues to survey Filipinos which
brands have a strong appeal and maintains its brand promise. Uratex is also
a Superbrands “Philippines’ Choice” Awardee 2014-2015; founded by
Superbrands Marketing International Inc., the Superbrands’ seal provides
recognition on the brand’s commitment towards quality and excellence of
products and services. The International Sleep Products Association (ISPA)
that has been recognized worldwide as the professional organization and
voice of the sleep products industry, representing health and wellness
facilities and providers globally.

Uratex prides itself for being recognized for offering high-quality foams
and mattresses. As a strong commitment to quality, each product that they
manufacture is carefully evaluated by the Uratex Quality Assurance Program.
Uratex really value quality of all their products, in fact they did not allow
their visitors to take pictures of the plant and touch their machines for
security purposes.

HUMAN RESOURCE AND JOB DESIGN

LOCATION

Uratex has 21 factories in 17 locations and they also have 1170


branches locally. Mostly located in Southern Philippines areas including
General Santos, Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Illigan, Butuan and Iloilo
City. These sites are strategically established to be close enough to its
consumers to reduce handling costs by middlemen. They don’t have any
facilities outside the Philippines.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

Uratex is very careful in terms of their inventory, particularly in


chemicals. Uratex never shortchange quality. They have many suppliers to
avoid shortage of raw materials. Every day they can produced an average of
10 long blocks. They produced foams by batch to save money and time.
Uratex uses a First In First Out (FIFO) method in managing its inventory so
that the product first produced are first sold to catch up with its expiration
date.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Uratex raw materials came from their international suppliers; Bayer,


BASF, Shell, Dow, and Mitsui. Upon its arrival to the plant it is being
processed. After processing, the finished products are delivered to retail
outlets, distribution centers, and other buyers. They have an approximately
20 to 30 trips of delivery per day.

SCHEDULING

Uratex scheduling of its production is 24 hours every day. They apply


shifting of labors, 3 shifts every day for their employees. Each worker is
assigned to a specific task. They don’t have an operation during holidays like
Christmas, New Year and Holy Week.

MAINTENANCE AND RELIABILITY

Uratex usually employs a preventive maintenance in its production


process. They conduct a daily maintenance (except Sunday) in their
equipment to avoid machine errors, like when the equipment suddenly
stopped in operating or the machine overheated and to ensure their
employees’ safety, since they are dealing with chemicals they need to be
responsible enough with regards to their equipments to avoid any accidents
or any problems regarding their production. Aside from the daily preventive
maintenance they are also conducting a weekly, monthly or semi annually
check up to their equipment.
