ISOLTESTER-DIG-PLUS
The solution to unwanted trippings

When it is necessary to guarantee safety and service continuity and avoid

interruptions in power supplies, for example in hospitals and other medical
locations, it is mandatory to use insulation transformers intended for medical use
and an insulation monitoring devices which detect and signal any possible first
fault to earth.

Risks derived from the use of a traditional

insulation monitor:
- impossible to distinguish between a
disturbance and a real fault
- unwanted trippings causing distraction of the
medical staff during surgical operation
- unjustified intervention of specialized technical
staff

Traditional CRT or LCD displays, A traditional insulation monitoring

undercarriage equipment for the device can provide an unwanted
oxygen distribution, x-ray machines alarm
and sterilization equipment
can generate interference within the
network

10 | H+Line - Protection without supply breaking for hospital applications

ISOLTESTER-DIG-PLUS is the new device for insulation
monitoring in IT systems. It ensures absolute reliability of
measurement by the means of a codified signal, that is able
to detect the disturbances generated by common devices in
surgery rooms, avoiding unwanted alarms signalling

Advantages of ISOLTESTER-DIG-PLUS:
- reliability of the monitoring under any
operational condition thanks to its codified
signal
- integration with supervision systems through
ModbusRTU protocol via RS485 serial port
- fault analysis by means of maximum and
minimum values measurement
- warning signal shall be delivered up to 4
rooms where medical and technical staff is
Despite network ripples and ISOLTESTER -DIG-PLUS avoids present
disturbances... unwanted trippings - complete control of any alarm thanks to a
programmable relay

ISOLTESTER-DIG
Insulation monitoring devices

ISOLTESTER-DIG-RZ
- Quality: the recognized standard in
hospital
- Specialization: properly designed for
hospitals
- Completeness: all electrical and
thermal parameters controlled by a
single device
- Flexibility: adjustable thresholds
according to the parameters
monitored
- Strength: high resistance to network
interference

Functioning principle
Insulation resistance is measured by applying a direct
current signal between the isolated line and earth: the level
of insulation can be determined by measuring the leakage
current to earth. ISOLTESTER-DIG-RZ ensures an effective
measurement of the insulation resistance even in the presence
of strong interference and high harmonic or direct-current
components, due to its sophisticated digital filter.

Programming
The device offers broad programming possibilities through its
user-friendly digital display menu and four selection keys.

Complete monitoring of all electrical parameters

ISOLTESTER-DIG-RZ tests the thermal and electric overload
of the insulating transformer, managing both PT100 or PTC
probes. The electric overload monitoring of the medical
transformer can also be tested by connecting a current
transformer and setting appropriate alarm thresholds. The
alarms can be controlled remotely by connecting up to four
QSD signalling panels.

Self testing system

Error-Link Fail system checkes that the terminals are
connected correctly: it prevents the possibility to operate
when the insulating monitoring device is disconnected.

12 | H+Line - Protection without supply breaking for hospital applications

ISOLTESTER-DIG-PLUS
- Reliability and safe monitoring under
every environmental condition, thanks
to the digital measuring signal
- Integration: with supervising systems
through ModbusRTU protocol via
RS485 serial port
- Fault analysis by means of the
measurement of the maximum and
minimum values
- Complete control of any alarm thanks
to the programmable relay

For higher safety

With ISOLTESTER-DIG-PLUS it is possible to operate even in
environments affected by heavy ripples and harmonics.
Furthermore it can be integrated with supervising systems
and PC/PLC networks thanks to its RS485 serial port with
ModbusRTU protocol. The measurement of the maximum and
minimum values of each parameter is an helpful information to
understand the cause of the fault.
Finally the programmable output relay allows to manage every
fault condition.

ISOLTESTER-DIG is the insulation monitoring device specifically designed by ABB

for group 2 medical locations. ISOLTESTER-DIG measures permanently the resi-
stance to earth in IT-M circuits and thermal and electrical overload of the insulating
transformers for medical use, complying completely with the requirements of the
international Standards: IEC 61557-8, IEC 60364-7-710 and UNE 20615
