STUDENT GUIDE TO GROUP ACTIVITY # 1


HEALTH POLICIES ‘HEALTH RELATED LAWS IN THE PHILIPPINES’

GROUP ACTIVITY GOALS:


a. The activity is focused on the process of enabling the students to have a clear
understanding of relevant health and health-related regulatory policies or laws (acts), the
aspect of health, which is being promoted, and the ways in which health is affected by social
and environmental influences.
b. The process entails group participation which provides opportunities to reinforce skills and
enhance self-confidence in future clinical work under a participatory and collaborative
engagement and approaches.

GROUP MEMBERSHIP:
a. With the subsection arranged in alphabetical order, the overall subsection leader equally
divides the class into seven (7) groups.
b. Each group selects a leader and a secretary for this activity:
Group 1: Presidential Decree (PD) 856 ‘Code on Sanitation of The Philippines’
Group 2: Republic Act No. 9003 “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.”
Group 3: Republic Act 9275 ‘Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004’
Group 4: Republic Act 8749 ‘Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999’
Group 5: Republic Act 9165 ‘Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002’
Group 6: Republic Act 94421 ‘An Act Amending 7277 ‘Magna Carta for Disabled Persons’
Group 7: Republic Act 8976, ‘Food Fortification Act’

TASKS:
a. Undertake project planning
b. Download, read and understand the provisions of the assigned health protection policy
or law.
c. Explore and sensibly select the major provisions of the assigned law (act) which are
essential
d. Through online search, explore and report one big program or project where the major
provisions have been applied or implemented ((national and local government units and
agencies, private institutions, or non-governmental agencies) including title, objectives,
strategies, impact alongside outcomes.
e. Come up with a capsulized Power Point presentation of the group report and share in
class during the 3rd virtual meeting day.
- Penalty clauses must be incorporated in the written report but skipped during
the oral power point presentation.
*Understand that each student is required to individually read and become well-versed
in key provisions of the seven (7) health policies ‘laws (acts)’
GROUP REPORT:
a. The group output is worth 20 points
• 15 points for the comprehensive written (PDF) report
• 5 points for the capsulized oral (PowerPoint) report.
b. Oral Report: 20 max slides deck (Power Point) format
c. Written Report: Word PDF format, A 4, single spacing, Arial font, and size 12
d. Submission of written (Word PDF) and Power Point slides is done by the subsection leaders
through Google Drive and emailed to respective faculty facilitators on or before the
scheduled shifting examination day.
