Developmental Automatic Electric Fan With Motion Detector Powered by Solar Panel

This document proposes developing an automatic electric fan with a motion detector powered by a solar panel. The fan would address issues with traditional electric fans, which risk overheating if left plugged in and use electricity even when not in use. The automatic fan would use a PIR sensor to detect motion and turn on, and an LM35 temperature sensor to adjust fan speed based on indoor temperature. It would be powered by a 12V solar panel and circuit, making it safer and more energy efficient than traditional electric fans. The project aims to minimize fire risks from overheating fans and save on electricity costs by developing a fan that only operates when needed.

CHAPTER 1
PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

1.1 Rationale of the Study

Modern technology is expanding more quickly and getting better all the time. Every home has
appliances, which are used frequently and draw electricity simultaneously. The most widely utilized
item that can be used to blow air to cool down a heated object is an electric fan. The drawbacks of
electric fans include the risk of fire in any home due to the possibility of overheating if the socket is left
plugged in for an extended period of time. Electric fans take a lot of electricity even though they aren't
used till after they've been consumed. Automatic Fan with 5volts relay and PIR Sensor.

This project, Automatic Fan with PIR Sensor and 5 Volt Relay, was undertaken in an effort to
develop a more effective fan, one that does not require manual control of speed or on/off functions when
in use, and one that does not raise concerns about increased electricity expenses in the event that we
forget to turn it off. On this fan, it functions as follows: 1. The PIR sensor in this instance recognizes
person or human movement as an on/off device with input. 2. Utilizing an LM35 sensor as a fan switch
with an indoor temperature input, the fan's speed increases as the room's temperature rises and vice
versa. 3. Additionally, because the supply voltage is 12 Volts, we need the IRF530N transistor.

The old style of electric fan has a motor that moves blades that are attached to a central rotating hub.
Fans circulate air to cool ventilated rooms and to control humidity, which is manually turned off and on.
The difference between old and new is that the old electric fan has a motion detector and it's manually
turned off and on. The new design of the electric fan is very convenient and comfortable because it has a
motion-detect electricity saver because the current used is from the solar panel. Solar is important in this
project to produce electricity for the electric fan.

We decided to improvise some appliances that are commonly used in our daily lives that are
effective for our community. Automatic Electric Fan with Motion Detector Our solar powered research
can minimize the rate of burning houses in our community because of overheating electric fans and also
because it can save electricity to consume for our daily lives. Our study must have advantages over the
old electric fan because you can easily use the fan and it is if you forget to turn off or plug out. It is the
same as the old electric fan that used an electric current, so it is useful every time, even if the weather is
not summer. Most people use electric fans even on rainy days, so our study is so effective. Most people
who use the electric fan are people who want to relax, especially if they are tired from work, so our
study must be good for this situation so they can easily use the electric fan.

Objective of the Study

This general objective of the Study is to develop and assemble an Automatic Electric Fan with

motion Detector Powered by Solar Panel at Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and

Technology.

The specific objectives are the following:

1. To determine the technical requirements in developing and assembling an Automatic Electric Fan

with motion Detector Powered by Solar Panel.

2. To determine the procedures involved in assembling on Automatic Electric Fan with motion Detector

Powered by Solar Panel.

3. To discuss the operational system of the project; and

4. To determine the total expenses of the project.

Significance of the study

This study will be beneficial to the following:

Future researcher- our developing the research will serve as their basis and it may also encourage them

to have there are invention with reference to this topic.

Automotive instructors- it serves as a new idea of installment, reference and a trainer for teaching

learning process.

Automotive students - it will give a sample for developing around to our high-tech generation.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study is delimited on exploring and examining the cause, effects and the ways to avoid overheating.

Moreover, this research study also studying on how to detect system that aims to detect human’s motion

Appearance. The focus of this research will be on the implementation of the sensor that controls the

speed of the fan
